The Running Dream By: Wendelin Van Draanen

This book is about a 16 year old girl named Jessica Carlisle who loses her right leg due to a car accident. She is devastated not to be able to run or even walk like she used to. When Jessica returns to school she meets a girl with cerebral palsy named Rosa, who Jessica finds to be a very inspiring person. Jessica’s track team wants to help Jessica run again, so they set up a fund raiser to raise $20,000 to get Jessica a running leg. The climax of “The Running Dream” is when Jessica’s track team finally raises enough money to get Jessica a running leg.

The major conflict in this book is when Jessica loses her right leg due to a car accident. This is an internal conflict. Jessica’s track team set up fundraisers to raise enough money to get Jessica a running leg. The team makes enough money to buy the running leg with some money left over. The team decides that the extra money will go to Jessica’s parents to pay off the basic medical bills.

I think the theme of this book is to never give up. Some textual evidence would be when Jessica was struggling with keeping up on her homework and she asked her friends to help and she eventually caught up on her homework. Another example would be when She had crutches and she found a way to get upstairs and into the shower, even though it took awhile. Some more textual evidence would be when Jessica was working on her gate making sure it was even and making it seem that nothing is wrong with her leg. The best textual evidence would be when Jessica committed to running Rosa in the River Race, even though her leg was burning, Jessica told herself that it is for a good cause and kept on running until Rosa crossed the finish line.

The protagonist of this book is Jessica Carlisle. I know this because the book is based on how she heals and learns to run again. Jessica goes through a lot. First she has to relearn how to walk and run with different kinds of prosthetic limbs. She also sees people as who they are and not of their condition. Thats how she met Rosa.

I would recommend this book to anyone 13 years and older. This book has sad moments with happy endings. It is a very inspiring and strong book. If you are looking for a good book to read, this is the book for you.

  2. Treasure Hunters

    By: James Patterson

    Review By: Michael Lano

The book, Treasure Hunters is about four kids that loose their dad to a storm at sea. The kids then take their fathers boat named The Lost to hunt for treasure. The climax of the book is when the kids discover chests filled with gold while scuba diving around a shipwreck.

The major conflict in the book involved fighting off gangs of pirates trying to steal their treasures and take the kids hostage. In the final conflict the kids were fighting off the pirates, when FBI and CIA came in and helped the children. This happened becuase the childrens mother is part of the CIA and knew the kids were in trouble.

The theme of the book is that what you learn from you parents now can help you survive in life. This is present on page 23, “Our parents homeschooled us and taught us how to survive in the real world-without iPods, iPhones, iPads, or Papa John’s Pizza.” Because they lived at sea, these were not availale or important to the family. They relied on survival lessons taught to them by their dad.

The main Protagonists in the book are the four children, Bick, Beck, Tom and Storm. The book centers round their adventures and how they decide what to do. During the book the four kids matured after looing their dad. They also became more adventureous than before.

I completely recommend this book to anyone who loves adventure with comedy on the side. The characters are funny and there are good illustations and a good story for anyone.

  3. Divergent
    By:Tyler Xiong By: Veronica Roth
Beatrice needs to choose a faction. Then she finds out that she is divergent. On the choosing of your faction she chooses dauntless. After long training days and after her fear test everything changes. There will be a war. Beatrice isn’t affected by the dauntless’s mind control but everyone else is. Beatrice needs to stop them!

Beatrice doesn’t know what to do. She wanted to stay with her family. Instead she goes to dauntless. After training she relized she was a divergent. When the war was happening she wasn’t controlled because she a divergent. As she was progressing to stop the war she relized she was getting more and more divergent. At the end she finally admited she was a divergent.

I think the theme of the story is that you should always belive in yoourself. Beatrice didn’t want to leave her faction;but she had to. When she was in the dauntless training she wanted to give up. But she told herself not to and too keep on going. When Beatrice’s mom died trying to save her. Beatrice kept on going even without her mom.

The dauntless leaders were the protagonist. The dauntless people tried to kill Beatrice and they killed a whole bunch of peolple. Beatrice was a kind with a life thats easy. Now she has to kill and live a hard and active life. The dauntless did all of this to everbody.

I would recommend this book to people who like action. People who like action will like the book because there is fighting, shooting and fights in the book. There are conflicts that make you wanna read more to find out what happens. There are suspenseful moments. This book has things that make you want to read more.

    Matched
    by: Ally Condie

There is one girl named Cassia. The year she turns 16 is the year she gets her match. Your match is someone who you’re destined to be with, or someone the Society matches you with. This year she got matched, but you will never guess who her match was. It was her best guy friend Xander. But something happens, Cassia starts having feelings for someone else. Her friend Ky she doesn’t really know anything about him. Who will she chose her match Xander or Ky the boy she really doesn’t know about well.

The major conflict in this story is that she falls in love with Ky. This is person vs. fate because she is up with a choice to choose between two people she loves. Her fate was suppose to be with Xander but I think she has her own mind.

The theme of this story is that you’re not always destined to be with someone. I think this because her match was Xander but she chooses Ky instead. She loved both of them but she loves Ky much more.

Cassia is a protagonist. I know this because she goes her own way and she chose someone she really loves. Not someone she is suppose to love. She undergoes telling Xander about her feelings but i don’t think he takes it very well.

I would recommend this book because it’s inspiring. It tells you not to always let someone to make decisions for you. You have to choose yourself for a change.

  5. Sparrow Road
    By Sheila O’Connor

In the summer before seventh grade Raine and her mom suddenly move to Sparrow Road. She didn’t know why she moved there but then found out she had a dad. After a little while Josie an artist decided to through BBQ party and invite Raine father Grey James. After she meets him they when to go have a picnic together and her dad explained everything to Raine why she did get to meet him a long time ago. Then Raine grandpa come to Sparrow Road for the art extravaganza that is happening. In the end because grandpa Mac and Grey don’t get along so well they could not be one family living in one house so they agreed they would still be in touch and they would still see each other. The climax of Sparrow Road is when Raine found out the real reason she and her mom moved to the creepy, old, mansion in the middle of nowhere. All her life Raine thought she never had a dad but she soon find out that she did and that he was living in a town near Sparrow Road. The main conflict is person vs. person. In the beginning Raine mom suddenly took a job at Sparrow Road. Raine did not know why the made that sudden move and no one was giving her answers. Then she soon found out why she moved. For Raine whole life she thought she never had a dad till her mom told her why they moved to Sparrow Road. They moved there so Raine could meet her dad. When she meet him he was not to kind of dad Raine was expecting. He was an alcoholic for many years and Molly Raines mom thought he wasn’t fit to be her dad so he was never allowed to visit her. The conflict was resolved in the end when she finally got to meet him face to face at the BBQ Josie hosted. The theme of Sparrow Road is to expect the unexpected. This to me is the theme because it makes perfect sense. For 12 years Raine thought she didn’t have a dad. When she found out why they moved to Sparrow Road it was shocking to her. When she meet her dad he was not the person she thought he would be. Also why he was never in her life. He was a bad alcoholic that always picked that over his own daughter. So that’s why she never meet in and why her mom kept that from Raine her whole life. The protagonist is Raine. I know this because the book is told in her view. This summer Raine had to undergo a lot of changes. Such as finding out she had a dad. Also for the whole summer she was unable to watch T.V., listen to music and not talk for six days a week till super time. Because they moved to a place where artist go for peace and quite so they can create art peacefully. Sparrow Road is my favorite book I have read in a long time. It has sum humor in it, and it also has some mystery in it. I would recommend this book to everyone. I think you would really enjoy it just like I did. Happy reading!

  6. Miss Peregrines Home for Peculiar Children

    author : Ransom Riggs

    by : jadyn johnson

    hr. 4

The first major event is when his grandpa gets murdered . Because he basically his grandson jacob what to do and how to figure out their strange family mystery . Which leads him to so many more strange events, but one important very important one is how he finally found the bird and went back in time. Then his life starts to finally unfold.

The major conflict is how he was being hunted by dwights. The same people who killed his grandpa, And how he has to figure out his grandpas past but how no one normal understands him and he has to figure out his grandpas past life story all by himself.

The theme is to always expect the unexpected and to prepare for the worst. In the story Jacob many times had to change his plan, And even sometimes had to be hurt with what he did. But for his survival and to basically figure out his and his family life and place he had to always push through the worst and keep going.

Jacob was the protagonist because he narrated the story and it also took place from his point of view. Jacob had to change the place he lived and even the time frame. His life completely flipped on him

Yes, I would recommend this book. Its a very quick and easy read. Its grabs the readers attention in the best ways, And even in the first few pages you’re hooked.
I highly recommend this book. This book fits everyone of all ages and is my personal favorite book.

It is the big day the choosing ceremony what should I choose. I’m up and i choose the dauntless. She has to go through 3 stages to make it in the dauntless.stage one is fighting and shooting. The second stage is is fear factor where you see your fears. The final stage is the fear course where you face your fears physically. She is really happy she chooses the dauntless.

The major conflict is that Tris is trying to get is trying to get in the dauntless. The type of conflict is person vs self because she has to work hard if she wants to make it in the dauntless. Also because she has to train mentally to get through all the stages. The conflict is resolved when she when she makes it in the dauntless and ends up with Tobias.

The theme is don't judge a book by its cover because Tris is tougher than she looks. I picked it because Tris comes from a not very liked living style and she is strong/tuff. Most people thought that she would not win. I also picked it because she beats up some of the bigger people that she rooms with. Don't judge a book by its cover is a perfect theme because it is totaly about Tris.

The protagonist in the book is tris because she is helpful and helps out all most every one. One problem she has is trying to make it in the dauntless. Another problem she has is that she likes her councler but she doesn't know if he likes her back. One of the last challenges she has was that some of her roommates we're mean and stabbed someone in the eye, and they tried to kill Tris by dumping her into the pit.

Yes I would recommend this book to someone because I thought it was a great book and that it has a lot of excitement. Secondly if you like excitement, action, and happy endings then this is your kind of book. Thirdly some of my friends love these kind of book, so they would like it if I told them about this book. Finally the book was great because the fear and me sitting on the edge of my seat to see what will happen next. That is one of the main reasons I would recommend this book to someone.

The theme of this book is never give up. Katniss Everdeen is a girl from district twelve and a girl from district twelve hasn’t won in 75 years. After she volunteered for her sister she needed to learn how to survive. At training she got the best score… an 11.Katniss never gave up no matter how much she was injured she just kept going and eventually won.

The protagonist of the story is Katniss because she and Peeta are the underdogs that were never expected to win but they did.She got injured pretty bad and had to survive against twenty-two other people. She and Peeta lost many friends along the way but they never gave up and ending up winning.

I would recommend this book is you like gore or action. A lot of stuff is constantly going on from climbing trees to swimming to running for your life. Also if you like gore a lot of people get killed and injured in this book as well. This is a great book and i recommend you read it.

  9. Coraline
    Author: Neil Gaiman

Coraline Jones, her morther, Mel Jones, and her father, Charlie Jones, Moved into an old duplex by the name of the “Pink Palace”. There was a rumor that the owner of the Pink Palaces’ twin sister came up missing but, someone in the apartment had kidnapped her. At night coraline would travel through a tiny door behind the wall paper and go into the apartment that had recently been closed off from the rest of the house which is where the twin sister came missing in. Which Coraline soon came to find out that in that apartment was the other mother and the other father.

The conflict of this story is a mixture of person vs. self and person vs. person. The other mother wanted Coraline to be like them, she kept on pressuring her to let the other mother sew buttons into her eyes but, Coraline did not want to, Coraline then was trapped into their world and had to escape by gathering the eyes of the other children who the other mother tricked into her game. Coraline was nearly killed and captured by the “other mother”.

The theme of this story is mostly thriller/ sci-fi. Its like child suspense in a way and also like a family movie. There is a lot action going on like Coralines’ parents always working so they never really had time to pay attention to her so, she gets to do whatever whenever.

The protagonist is Coraline Jones. She went under a lot of changes. She learned to appreciate life and her parents more, also everything in her life. She learned to stick up for herself and to never let anyone walk over you and stand in the way of your dreams.

I would recommend this book because its really interesting book and so is the movie. I feel like this story could relate to a lot of people who parents constantly work and never have family time because that mostly happens to a lot of people.

The theme of this story is never give up. This is the theme because Troy never gave up on his gift that he had and ended up using it for the Atlanta Falcons. Troy also had to stick with his team when he had to sit on the bench. But eventually he got his chance to play and start. And Troy proved to everyone that he could do what no one thought he could.
Tory is the protagonist because he is the main character. Troy really had to step out of his comfort level and disobey his mom in some cases. Troy had to show his talent and become noticed by his coach and the Falcons. Troy turned out to have a great gift and he is a great quarterback too.
I would recommend this book to someone because it shows god meaning to it’s theme. It also shows what going out and getting your dreams can do for you. 11. A child called “it”

    By: Dave Pelzer

A child called it is a story based on true happenings of Dave Pelzer. His family was like the brady bunch when he was young, but then it took a turn for the worst because his parents were fighting. His mom then got abusive and he was starved, hit, and even stabbed by his mom. He was hated at school because they said he smelled. He now tho turned his life around and is a successful man.

The conflict is that Dave is terribly abused by his mother. He was abused for over seven years, and tried to fight back but could’nt. His dad didnt abuse him, but he also barely tried to stop the abuse. It wasnt completely resolved yet but he was finally helped by cops and put in a foster home. He is now a successul communicator, and speaks to help people.

The theme for tis is i think dont stop fighting for your dream because it could just be around the corner. I choose this because he fought till the very end. He wanted to give up so many times, but he didnt and he never did. He was put down over and over again, but kept getting back up. He now reached his goal and he reached his dream.

Dave is the protagonist in this story. He goes up against his mom the antagonist who beats him. His life was good until his parents seperated, and his life changed for the worst. He than broke free and pushed to change his life better again. He worked to be where he is now and it took a lot of effort and determination.

I would reccomend this book to others for a lot of reasons. It for me is really the only book i find interesting. It has happy parts, sad parts, and even some scary but interesting parts. It may be a lot to take in for some people, but for me it was a very good story. A child called “it” is one of the most known abusive intersting stories.

  12. Wonder

    R.J. Palacio

The book Wonder is about a boy named August “Auggie” Palmer. August was born deformed. He is constantly in surgery, and has always been homeschooled, Until this year. he is attending beacher prep school, he runs into with many problems connecting with his face. It’s terrible for him he only has a couple of friends. People use fast instincts to judge him and are afraid to even touch him.

The major conflict in this book is that August’s face causes him to be bullied very badly. The conflict is person vs. person, because of how people treat him in life and also the conflict could be person vs. self because he begins to hate himself because of it.

I think the theme of Wonder is don’t judge someone by the way there look or act, because when overhears people wherever he went even his “friends” it hurts him so badly. they just didn’t realize that he was a really cool and a super nice person.

August Palmer is the protagonist. he’s the one telling his story.the changes he has to deal with is going to a new school after being homeschooled his whole life. he also has to go through many new medical changes to.

I would recommend this book to everyone. It makes points not to judge people at frist glance. I think not judging people it a great characteristic to have. This was a really good book.

  13. A child called “ it “
    Dave Pezler

Dave Pezler gets abused by his mom. She would let him starve and she would brutally beat him up. She’s also an alcoholic. His room is the basement, he sleeps in the basement. He had to wears the same clothes every single day. His mom treats and uses him as a “ slave “ and he has to work for his food in order to survive. His mom doesn’t consider him as a son anymore. She considers him as an “ it “.

The major conflict in this story was that Dave got abused by his mother repeatedly. This is a person vs person conflict. Its Dave vs His mom. Dave then gets put into a foster home where he gets taken care of better, and is away from his mom.

The theme of the story is “ Don’t be afraid to speak up when someone treats you bad even if its someone you love . “ Dave kept making excuses about his bruises that his mother obviously gave him. The teachers knew it was from his mom, but they kept quiet. One day when dave went to school the bruises were worse so they had enough and questioned him. He finally spoke up and got help.

Dave pezler is the protagonist. This story is an autobiography. The story was about his life when he was young and the struggles he went through in order to survive. The changes he went through was that his life got harder and worse for him. Which made him struggle even more just to survive. He then gets help so he’s far away from his mom.

I would recommend this book to anyone who likes sad books because its a really sad book. Its also very interesting , it talks about what his mom did to him. His struggles that he went through when he was younger. It also teaches a wonderful lesson, “Don’t be afraid to speak up when someone treats you bad”.

  14. ‘The Test’ by Peggy Kern

The book “The Test” is about a girl named Liselle Manson, and she is now 20 years old and she’s talking to a group of students at her old high school and while Liselle is talking there's a rude student named Tamara who would always have rude comments about her and was showing alot of disrespect by texting on her phone so Liselle said that she remindes her of her old self so Tamara questioned how she got reminded of her so Liselle told a long story about her at the age of 16 meeting a boy at a party that she fell in love with. 4 months later she’s on the bathroom floor with a pregnancy test with a positive on it and she can’t believe what she sees so takes another one and it test positive again so someone comes in the bathroom and tells her she has to leave because its 4 pm and no one was allowed in the school so she goes home and feels sick and all she did was sleep over the weekend. So at the dinner table she does not want to eat so her mom got mad and took her to the doctor and Liselle admits she’s pregnant and the doctor confirms that shes 4 months pregnant. Later at home they got into a argument but later Liselle’s mom had work so she ran off to go talk to Oscar (the dad of the baby) and Oscar was surprised about it and he said he would call her later. Liselle did not wanna go back to her moms house so she went off to her dads house who never really gets to see her and when he does he always brings presents and Liselle has never been to her dad’s house before but when she got their her dad was surprised to see her and he lived in a little apartment and she told him he was a little upset and she told him she wanted to live their and he did not like the idea about supporting his 16 year old daughter and supporting her baby when he struggled with himself so he said they'd talk about it in the morning. Oscar grabbed her a couple sheets and a towel and a old pillow to sleep on the couch but when she was lying there she could hear her dad talking to her mom and he was saying he did not want her living with him so Liselle wanted to leave right there but she was so exhausted she figured she will leave in the morning. By morning Liselle got up and wrote a note to her dad saying that she’s leaving and don’t be mad so she had nowhere else to go be side her 17 year old cousins house who lives with her mom. So Liselle decides to go there but her cousin Shayna also had a baby recently but Shayna’s mom has been basically taking care of Shayna’s baby and one night Zoe (Shayna’s mom) went out with her friends and Shayna went out so Liselle was stuck with the baby and the baby started to cry so Liselle went to go get a bottle but the baby just would not stop crying so Zoe left a phone number to call in case of an emergency so Liselle call it and with 10 minutes she was home when Zoe got home she called the baby down and took the babys temperature and it was a little high so she gave the baby some medicine. After that, Zoe asked where Shayna was and Liselle said she went out but when Shayna got home, her and her mom got into a argument and when they (Liselle and Shayna were laying down, (Liselle and Shayna) Shayna was mad so she was calling Liselle names and saying she was always embarrassed to be seen with her. The next day after a week of staying with Zoe and Shayna, Liselle had a doctors appointment she had to fill out some paper work but she could not figure it out so she was going call her mom but she was already their. Later she was waiting to talk to Oscar but when she did his jerk of a cousin came and started to interrupt and be a jerk to Liselle but Oscar says he does not really want anything to with the baby. After the story, everybody is amazed that she has the baby and she’s raising it by herself and going back to school and she asks everybody what they want to be and they say stuff like

  15. The Lightning Thief

    By: Rick Riordan

The Lightning Thief is a very interesting book. The climax of this story is when Percy battles Hades in the underworld. Percy had to fight Hades because he wanted to get Zeus’s lightning bolt back. After the fight Percy hardy got out of the underworld alive because Hades wanted to kill him. Luke made magic flying shoes for Percy. Percy gave those shoes to Grover because he had nothing with magic. The shoes made grover speed to the underworld so their journey was quicker.

The conflict of this story is when someone steals Zeus’s lightning bolt. If it is not returned before the summer solstice there will be a war between all of the gods.Percy has to go on a quest to find that lightning bolt. Zeus thinks that Percy stole the lightning bolt. He does not know that Hades has it. This is why Percy goes on a quest to find the lightning bolt.

I think the theme of this story is that important things are worth doing extra stuff for. I have a few examples of why I say that. I said this because Percy went to the underworld to find his mother. He was going to risk his life for his mom because she is important. Another reason why I say this is important is because Zeus said there will be a war if his lightning bolt is not returned.

The protagonist in this story is Percy. One of the reasons why I say that he is the protagonist is because, he’s the main character. Another reason why I say that is because he is accused of stealing Zeus’s lightning bolt. But percy is also the good guy. He was not purposely harming anyone.

I would recommend this book because its very interesting. It has alot of action. For people who like action. This is a book that’s easy to fall into. I would only recommend this to people who like fiction or action.

  16. A Child Called It
    Dave Pelzer
    Courtney Thompson

The plot of the story is when Dave was growing he was basically the odd one out he got treated differently then his brothers. His mom didnt feed him, shes didnt get him new clothes, or new shoes. If he was lucky he got scraps from the garbage. Dave always did everyones dirty work. He always had to do the dishes or clean the bathroom. And every night he slept in the garage on a cot. The climax I would say was when the lady from child services came to see how Dave was doing.
Daves whole life was a conflict, He dealt with abuse for 7 years. Finally when the took Dave away from his mom, and out him a foster homes. His mom still did whatever she could to get him back. when Dave went to foster homes he got picked on there also. He always wondered if he was ever gonna be good enough. The solution to all of his problems was being taken away.
I think the theme of this story is that don't take things for granite because, like Dave he cant take things for granite. A lot of people say that they have the worst life ever. But they don't even have it that bad. Also another theme could be. Be thankful for what you have.
The protagonist person is Dave Pelzer. He wrote the book about his life growing up and all the struggles he went through. Hes the main character in the book also cause all he did was talk about him and his life because its autobiography.
People should read this book because it teaches you life is pretty amazing and that some people go through some horrible things. And be thankful that you don't have life like that. You learn to not take things for granite. Some people simply don't get the things we take for granite.

    The House of the Scorpion
    Nancy Farmer

In The house of Scorpion El Patron takes Matt’s first cell and place it in the womb of a cow.One of his maid takes cares of Matt in a house across a poppy field because Matt is a clone to El Patron’s. Clones aren’t like and called beast or monsters so they are kept hidden till the person they are cloned to pass away(dies). So Matt were to be hidden but Celia (his fake mother) didn’t do a good job and he was discovered by El Paton’s kids. He grows up and trains to take over El Patron’s place but wants to escape.

One conflict in the story is when he broke the glass of his house and went through it to play with the kids, and lands in the pile of broken glass. So Rosa( another maid of El Patron) tries to help until the doctor comes but stopped after hearing Matt was a clone and threw him in the backyard. And after the kids went to sleep she took him to the old maid house and treats him like an animal. But when El Patron’s day came they met up and Celia told him so Rosa got fired.

Theme? Theme of the story is you should not let other people choose the path you take, you should be the one that choose what life you want and what path you want to take. Why? Because El Patron created or cloned Matt to pass on his work and keep his reputation going but Matt doesn’t want that path or to keep El Patron’s path he wanted Matt to take , so he tried to escape.

Matt was the protagonist. Because he was the one everyone was focusing on and everything they did affected Matt he was part or had something to do with all the problems in the book. It all lead to him. Matt was the one who stood out because he was the clone.

Yes i would recommend people this book because Matt is a clone to El Patron and his first cell was spilt and put into a cow’s womb. Clones aren’t real but this book showed a way clones are created if they were real. I would personally recommend this book to people who have struggled with not fitting in because their different so they could kinda relate to the story and they could enjoy the book.

  18. Popular Clone
    M.E. Castle

Fischer Bas is a twelve year old seventh grade that is the son of very smart and creative parents. He is smart also but gets bullied by the vikings(bullies). Fischer decided that he had enough and cloned himself so his clone can go to school for him. His clone ends up getting popular than the regular Fischer, but also gets in trouble for pulling pranks. Fischers clone gets kidnapped by Dr.X’s workers(mad scientist). The climax was that Fischer had to become courageous and save his clone from the fortress of techX industries. Him and his clone went through a lot of obstacles, but Fischer did not end up saving his clone but stopped Dr.X and was known as the Fischer Bass the hero.

The major conflict in the story is Man vs. Himself. The conflict is Fischer having the struggle to be himself. Fischer was always the quiet and very smart guy, that never got noticed. He got tired of getting bullied for being himself, so he made a clone. The clone got kidnapped, By Dr.X(evil scientist) workers. Fischer got his clone back and everyone was happy for him, but Veronica G wasnt. She wasn't happy because Fischer had changed and she liked him for being himself, so Fischer decided to be himself and turned back to the normal Fischer.

The theme of the story is “Be Yourself”. In the story Fischer Bas was always himself but got teased and picked on. Fischer went through a lot in the story. He went through mental and physical challenges. Fischer at school was popular but didn't have any real friends , so Fischer decided to lighten up and become the normal Fischer Bas.

The protagonist in the story is Fischer Bas. Fischer went through a lot in the story. He faced many challenges and changed a lot. Fischer had challenges like saving his clone, and stopping Dr. X. He also had changed by first being the quiet nerdy guy to becoming the popular Fischer who was himself.

I would recommend this book to people. I would recommend the book to middle school students. I think middle school students would like the book because it shows a quiet geeky guy becoming the popular kid. It shows a lot of courage and problems in school many people face in there life like getting bullied. It is an enlightening book that makes people wonder if the is a second book or a series to the book.

  19. they never came back by:caroline b. cooney

It all started one day in lunch, a boy named tommy came up to cathy and thought it was his long lost cousin murielle . Murielle was put in the foster system 5 years ago because her parents were criminals . It turns out murieles middle name is catherine . cathys last name is ferris from her foster parents . cathy ferris is murielle lyman . the book really got interesting when an fbi agent came looking for cathy. he wanted to use her as bait to get murielle parents back to the united states.

One of the conflicts in this story was a internal conflict , where cathy couldn't decide whether or not to let the FBI to use her as bait . should she or should she not let her real parents go to jail. one of her friends set up a facebook account under the the name murielle lyman. her parents rory and cadde lyman contacted her . they talked for a little bit. it really was them . she made up her mind , she sent the last message . RUN. the fbi can never find them now. she couldn't let her parents go to jail, even if they were criminals on the run.

i think that the theme to this book is to be yourself . she is both cathy and murielle, but why can't she just be herself. also in the end everyone was telling her different things and dhe just decided to go with her gut and tell her parents who she loved so so much to run .

Murielle or Cathy is the protagonist because she always did the right thing , she didn't steal millions of dollars like her parents , sure she stuck up for them , but wouldn't you ? also she is the main character , and nobody else to me would be the protagonist .

i might recommend this book. it wasn't the best and was really confusing at times, but for the most part it was pretty good. it kept me entertained .

  21. The Secret Language of Girls
    by, Frances O’Roark Dowell

Two girls ,Kate and Marilyn, are best friends. Though when it comes to the sixth grade and a new neighbor, the friendship is in jeopardy and starts to rapidly fade away. With cheerleading, boys, and snobby new friends, the girls relationship is almost as if it never existed. However, in the end the girls find they still need each other no matter what! The climax in this story is when Marilyn joins the cheerleading squad for their middle school and becomes very popular.
There are many conflicts in this book. The main conflict is when Marilyn and Kate start to drift away from each other when sixth grade begins. This conflict is person vs. person. The conflict is resolved in the end when they decide the only person outside their family they can talk to is each other. So they call each other and start talking again. This is the main conflict and resolution.
The theme of this story could be that you need to be yourself and who YOU want to be, don't let others decide that for you. This is true because in the book Marilyn loses Kate because Flannery and the other cheerleaders don't like kate. Marilyn goes along with it and loses her long time best friend that she has known since a small age. In the end when Marilyn needs someone to talk to she can't go to anyone because she doesn't know who to trust other than Kate, so she decides to be herself and stop the act. This is why the theme above is true.
In this book, there were two protagonists … Marilyn and Kate. I know this because they were the leading characters in the story. Marilyn had many changes, as in having new friends, becoming a cheerleader, and becoming popular and having her parents divorce. Kate , on the other hand, had experiences of losing friends, being picked on,having a boyfriend, and making friends. These are the protagonists and some of their obstacles throughout the story.
I would recommend this book to all/majority of girls. This being because many people probably could relate to the events in it, whether they want to admit it or not. Many girls, including me have been changed/influenced by people around us and what they expect to see. Some of us realize we are being changed and go back to who we are, some of us may want to. Realizing how important that is after reading this book. I think this book has very good lessons we all need to hear.
