  1. Trimester Book Project:
    Book: Outlaw
    Author: Stephen Davies

This book is about Jake who gets suspended from his boarding school in England, so he goes to live with his parents in Burkina Faso. But on his first night there, Jake and his sister get kidnapped and are taken out into the desert, and they are saved by the most wanted man in the country; Yakuuba Sor. But all Sor wants to do is to bring them home to clear his name. He gets them home; and just about every police officer in the capital city is waiting for them. Sor manages to defeat the police in a duel and gets away safely. (Climax) After that however Jake finds out the British military is planning a missile strike on Sor and his friends. And in the end Jake ends up saving his new friend's life.

The major conflict in this story was when Jake and his sister Kas, are kidnapped. The conflict is person vs person, and the conflict is resolved when Sor sends some of his friends to rescue Jake and Kas from the men that kidnapped them. And they are then taken back to the camp where Yakuuba decides to bring them home.

The theme of this story is: Just because someone is a outlaw that doesn't make them a bad person. (Like Yakuuba Sor) I think this is the theme because when Jake and Kas are originally kidnapped they think that Yakuuba Sor is the most evil person in the world. But after a while they figure out that he isn't the evil one in the story.

Jake is the protagonist, I know this because the story is centered around him. The changes he went through were: He was kidnapped and Jake and his sister had to experience living outside of their comfort zones. They also knew what it is like to be an outlaw.

I would recommend this book because; It is a very exciting, suspenseful, action packed and very dramatic. It is just a good book and the whole time when something exciting happens it just wants to make you keep reading.

  2. Trimester Book Project:
Book: The Fault in Our Stars
    Author: John Green

The Fault in Our Stars is about a girl named Hazel Lancaster. Hazel unfortunately is suffering from stage four thyroid cancer and metastasis which has spreaded in her lungs. Hazel participates in a support group that meets once a week filled with kids her age who talk about their illnesses. This where she meets Augustus Waters. Augustus Waters is a very attractive young boy and good friends with Isaac (a boy in Hazel’s support group) and visits the support group. He’s a former cancer patient and has an amputated leg. Augustus meets Hazel and is suddenly drawn to her. As John Green tells us more about the story we learn that Augustus and Hazel aren’t like many kids their age. They’re sarcastic and smart and more into literature and the bigger picture of things. They both fear oblivion. They fear if they don’t make their mark on earth they will be forgotten forever. (Climax) Hazel lives by the book An Imperial Affliction. Written by Peter Van Houten, an unknown, mysterious, and shady author who lives in Amsterdam. Hazel gets Augustus wired to the book as well. They both have a ton of questions for Mr. Van Houten and want answers. When Hazel and Augustus get the chance to met him in person, they fly to Amsterdam only to find out that Mr. Van Houten is one of the most rude and pathetic old man who refuses to discuss his book with Hazel and Augustus.

The major conflict in this story is Hazel v.s. cancer. No matter what Hazel might say, she will always be reminded of the cancer and the inevitableness of her short life. Hazel has been living with cancer for three to four years. She was lured out of out of high school and lives a concealed life, infested with doctor’s appointments, support group meetings, and her oxygen tank she totes around constantly reminds her of her sickness .

The Fault in Our Stars has many themes but I think the most important one is that love triumphs. Augustus helped Hazel get out of her rut. Hazel made Augustus happy and in his time of need Hazel was always there for him. They were always there for each other and they never let anything bring them down. When they had their problems with cancer they never gave up on each other. They were with each other every step of the way.

Hazel Lancaster is the protagonist. The whole story is in her point of view. She is constantly pulling around her oxygen tank, she's always short of breath, and she has her hair cropped short (due to her troublesome cancer). But despite her bodily sustenance, Hazel has a resolve of steel. She drives the story and stays emotionally stable even while she's staring down her own fatality, and seems to handle it better than her own parents and friends. When things go south for her boyfriend Augustus, Hazel remains unwavering and there for him; and she survives his loss with, well, entire grace.

I would recommend this book because; it’s a very sappy love story, a really good novel, and very meaningful. It has a quirky and sarcastic vibe to it and some odd humor. It will also give you reasons to cry and buy water-proof mascara. It’s a really good book and if you can handle teen fiction novels, you will enjoy The Fault in Our Stars.

  3. Trimester book report
    Book: Catching Fire
    Author: Suzanne Collins

Katniss and Peeta escaped from the hunger games as lovers but some people in the districts were not convinced that they loved each other including president Snow. President Snow threatened Katniss to show him and the districts that they were truly in love. It was the 75th year of the hunger games so this quarter quell they made 2 victors from each district compete in the hunger games again. Katniss and peeta had to compete in the games again.

The major conflict of the story was that Peeta and Katniss had to compete in the hunger games once again, knowing that the capital did not like them after what happened in the first hunger games. Katniss and Peeta found good allies in the games that help them throughout. I would recommend this book to others, there are no other books like this book it is also very interesting and suspenseful.

I would say the theme would be don't let others control your life. Katniss’s life was controlled by president Snow after he threatened to kill her loved ones. All the districts were controlled by the capital, how they worked and functioned and if they acted wrongly they would be executed. People should live how they want not how others want them to live.

Peeta and Katniss were the protagonists and the antagonist was president Snow. Katniss’s life changed after what happened in the arena. Katniss has not in on the plan that happened in the arena but it worked out fine except for a couple things...

    The House of Hades
The started of with Annabeth and Percy stuck in Tartarus and the rest of the crew, Hazel, Frank,Jason, Leo, Nico, and Piper, are traveling to a place called the House of Hades. On the way there they meet other gods and creatures that some how in some way help them.when they finally get to the to the House of Hades the place is and they find themselves trapped but two people Leo and Hazel make it thru the entrance to the Doors of Death the rest of them have to fight an army of monsters.

Percy and Annabeth are trapped in Tartarus and they have to get out. The conflict I would say is man VS. nature but not the but not the nature we have on earth more like the nature from a different universe. Percy and Annabeth need to get out of Tartarus but they will need help. The first person that helps them is a Titan named Bob he will help them throughout their journey. The second person is a Giant named Damasen who will help them in the end but without him they would have probably died eventually Annabeth and Percy escape but only with the sacrifice of both Damasen and Bob, percy and Annabeth will never forget them.

I think that the Theme of this book is that even if you're going through the hardest time in your life does not mean you will not make it thru even if you have to make sacrifices along the way. some evidence of that is Percy and Annabeth have to breath are that is toxic, walk on sand that is made out of glass, drink fire water, and dodge monsters every step they take.

One of the main characters Frank Zang as gone threw the most changes physically and mentally. Frank used to be this short chubby kid but after the fight he has fought and killed thousand of bulls he went threw growth spurt he is now tall and buff. Also after the fight he had a mot leadership tone and could command an army of dead people

I would recommend this book (and the series) to anybody who has read the percy Jackson and the olympians series because it introduces more and fun characters. i would recommend the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series to people that are in fifth through sixth grade

  5. Abundance of Katherine’s by John Green
    Report by Megan Monahan

Colin Singleton lives in Lansing, Michigan, and just graduated high school. He has had 19 girlfriends in his entire life, all with the name of Katherine. She can’t go by Kathy, or Katie, or Kate. And it cannot be spelled any other way than Katherine. Also, all of those Katherine’s, have dumped him… After the 19th Katherine dumps him the night after the graduation, he’s absolutely devastated. His best friend, Hasaan, and him go on a trip to Kentucky, where Colin meets a sweet girl named Lindsey. Hasaan, Lindsey, and Colin all become very close. The boys end up staying at Lindsey’s little farmhouse with her mother. Here’s quite a crazy coincidence, Lindseys boyfriend is named Colin (whom they refer to him as C2 in the story), and a huge fight arises between Lindsey, C2, Colin, Hasaan, and Lindsey’s best friend. Colin learns how to deal with heartbreak, jealousy, college, the true meaning of friendship, and girls. And sometimes not Katherine’s.
The major conflict in the story is Colin vs. himself. He needs to face himself in being so out of place, and dating too many Katherine’s… His heartbroken mind was lost for a long time. He couldn’t sleep, eat, talk, smile, or even get up off the floor in his dark room! Finally, Hasaan drags him out of the dungeon, and brings him on the trip to Kentucky, to cure his heartbreak.
The theme of this book, in my flatout opinion, is don’t let others rule over your happiness, especially a girl, or a guy. If you want to be happy, go ahead. If you want to be sad, nobody’s gonna stop you. Be who YOU want to be, not what anyone else wants you to be. Hasaan at the end of the book said, “You are who you are, and no one can change that. And Colin, I’m [darn] proud of you.” Never EVER let someone control you. Only you can be you.
The protagonist is Colin Singleton, mostly because he is the main focus of this book. He is the most mentioned one throughout the whole story. Some changes he had to undergo were graduating from high school, getting dumped by his girlfriend, going to Kentucky with Hasaan, meeting Lindsey, having a job in Kentucky, and many others along his journey to discovering what his life is all about.
I would absolutely recommend this book to students in 7th grade and older. (12-13+ years old) because it’s an amazing, adventurous, and heartwarming book, and most younger kids won’t grasp the concept as easily as older teens/ adults can. It’s not an emotional book where you cry and all that, which is okay, but you still get sucked in Colin Singletons life over his summer before college, and become attached to Colin’s world and everything that goes on inside of it.

  6. Matched
    by: Ally Condie

In “Matched”, by Ally Condie, Cassia lives in a world in which the society has total control, in other words, who you marry, where you work, when you die. Cassia is accepting her grand father’s challenge to open her eyes and look beyond the acceptable. When Cassia falls in the her match, something happens, a new face, appears, and she wonders. As shes wondering she falls in love with both of them, but she has to pick between the two to be her life’s companion.

Cassia, along with her family arrive at the city hall for the significant celebration. They all are going there to find out who her life’s companion will be - her match. Cassia finds out her match is in the room, it’s her best friend - Xander. She knows nearly everything about Xander, the she is curious to find out more, so she adventures to the microcard that she got from the banquet. When she gets the microcard working, she sees another face on the card and begins to wonder… This story continues in the next book in the series.

“Love is a mystery that can be embraced but never solved”... The society matched her with xander, but when the screen was fading, another face popped up. She saw it flash to a picture of Ky. The officers told her it was a glitch , a rare malfunction, but Cassia didn’t think so… So she found Ky and got to know him better. They eventually fall in love but they’ll never know if they were meant to be together…

Cassia Reyes - the seventeen year old protagonist - who lives the society with her parents, brother, and best friends. She is matched with her best friend, Xander Carrow, but there was a “glitch”, that changed her life’s direction, it changed her curiosity, and where her love was going to…

This particular book in the series is a sixth grade reading level, but I advise it to 9th-12th graders. This book has the emotional conflicts that will leave you hanging if you don’t read more. This book is a book that you can read over and over again and not get tired of it Everyone should read this book.

  7. Daisha
    Blevins Title: Evermore
    Author: Alyson Noel

The climax of the story is close to the end. Damen chases after Ever and tells Ever that he is immortal. Ever knew there was something about him when they first met. Little by little she put the pieces together. But didn’t know his secret would be this crazy.
In the story she lost her whole family. She blames herself. She could see her dead sister and no matter how many times her sister tells her it isn’t her fault she thinks she’s lying. But at the end of the story there is someone named Drina. She wants to kill Ever. Ever finaly figures out that Drina was the one who killed her family so Ever killed Drina.
Anything can happen and don’t blame yourself for anything. In the book Ever says “How Could a guy like him like a girl like me” and also in the book she blames herself for the accident that took her families lifes.
The protagonist in this story is Ever. I know this because she is telling the story, In one part of the story she says “ I Ever-” And she tells her thoughts. She changed Damen’s life because instead of Drina killing her like she did before in Ever past lifes, Ever killed her. And taught Damen love is harder then he thinks.
I would recommend this book for girls. Becasue this book is about romance and drama. Plus the main character is a girl. It also about immortals and mysterious things and its really exciting. You will really be shocked reading this book.

  8. BY “SCUD” Sincere Ross
The Walking Dead: Rise Of The Governor
    Author, Robert Kirkman

The book i have chosen is about a man named Phillip Blake who tries to survive with his two best friends, his brother, and his daughter, in a zombie apocalypse. The group met and lost people throughout the story, which drove Phillip to insanity. The climax is when Phillip and his group run into survivors, and get into a gun battle. During the gun battle, Phillip’s daughter is shot and killed.

There were many conflicts but here is the one that was major. When Phillip’s group ran into the other group and got in a gun battle, that is how the conflict is started. It is resolved when Phillip left two of the people alive, tortured them, and then killed them.

The theme of this story is trust, because you really don’t know what someone in your group for a zombie apocalypse is going to do. I chose it because, as Phillip actually came to his senses, his best friend Nick Parsons turned on him, and shot him through the torso with a 12-gauge pump-action Winchester shotgun.

Phillip Blake is the main character of the story, but he really isn’t much of a hero. After his daughter was killed, his brother Brian, turned out to be the protagonist. But Phillip was protagonist until his friend Bobby, and his daughter Penny, died.

I would recommend this book to zombie fans. People who want suspense in a book should read it, and it is a dark, suspenseful book. 10/10.

  9. The Hunger Games
    By:Suzanne Collins
In the future in the nation of panem there is a game every year where 1 boy and 1 girl are chosen from each of the 12 districts. These kids are then thrown into an areana to fight to the death. I think the climax is probably when rue dies and katnis [the main character] goes looking for peeta[the second main character].

The main conflict of this story is when Katniss and Peeta are together. Running for the cornicopia away from the rabbid wolf dog things. Peeta has a bad leg and it is hard for him to run.He gets attacked but Katniss saves him by shooting it with an arrow.

I think the theme of the hunger games is the difference between the rich and the poor. Also the way people look at you differently if you are rich or poor. If you are rich everyone looks at you like you are a king and everybody will want to be your friend but… if you are poor every one looks at you like your some kind of disgusting animal.

The protagonist of this story is obviously Katniss. I know this because she is the main character...the good guy.She is forced to undergo the harsh cruel hunger games. This experience did not only strengthen her physicly but her mentaly too.

  10. Soul Surfer

    Author: Bethany Hamilton

    Plot

It all starts with a girl that has been a surfer since she was four. She had an amazing connection and faith with God. One day she was in a shark attack the shark bit off her arm. Bethanys whole life was turned upside down, her arm was gone. she used her amr in surfing it almost felt necessary, but bethany kept strong, as strong as she could, and with God by her side anything was possible, so Bethany had to figure out her own way on how to become pro.Bethany became famous because of the attack and because of it she could spread Gods word. Later in life she did become a pro and she has inspired a man to create a movie about her life!

    Major Conflict

In this story the major conflict was the loss of Bethanys arm. She struggled to become a surfer and do simple tasks in life, like tying her shoe, or making a sandwich. She learned how to do things like tying her shoe and cut an orange( but she had to use her feet).

    Theme

Dont give up what you love, just try harder. I believe that this is the theme of the story because even though she lost her arm in that faithful shark attack she still wanted to surf and the loss of her arm didn't keep her down. Instead she got right back into the water after her arm was alright. the whole time she was in the hospital she wanted to get back into the water. She also shows it when she is in the water and keeps on trying to get back up and even when she does she keeps going not even thinking about taking a break. bethany shows it as well in her first competition, after she loses and didn't win she kept going at it.

    Protagonist

The protagonist would be Bethany Hamilton. She was the one that the story was based of of and the one that was in the shark attack. Bethany also was the one that had to face the changes and challenges in life. Bethany wanted to be a pro surfer and even the loss of her left arm didn't stop her. Even though she tried she had issues because an arm in surfing is all balance. Not only that but in everyday life it is a helpful tool.

    RECOMMENDED

I recommend this book because of its amazing faith and the amazing girl who even though she lost an arm she worked hard for her shot at her dream and her trust in God. she also has a devotional book that is full of amazing devotions and helpful tips and prayers.

  11. Title: Flowers in the Attic
    Author: V.C Andrews

The story starts when their father dies coming home from work. They soon find themselves at their grandparent’s house, who are apparently really rich. The grandmother hates them from the beginning claiming they are the devil’s spawn. She leads the children to a room away from everyone else, that their mother says they will only have to stay until she can get her father’s love again, which she “says” at most will be a week. The mother visits them everyday for awhile and then as time goes on her visits become more scarce. Eventually, she stops visiting them all together, leaving the grandmother in charge to “care” for the children. Sneaking out one night, Cathy finds out that the grandfather died three months after arriving and that their mother was planning on marrying someone else and moving away, leaving her children behind. Upon that news, she also finds out that the grandmother was adding arsenic in with the powder in the donuts they ate every morning. She realizes her own mother was planning on killing her, a little too late though because one of her brothers had just died from it. With the news, they escape and their journey continues in the second book.

The major conflict I would say is person vs person. The grandmother is horrible to them since they arrived, making hatred a mutual feeling between each other. They deal with many problems including Cathy waking up with tar in her hair to the grandmother letting them go a week without food or water. They try to get back at her, but their attempts are useless. She hates them.

I personally think the theme is never take anything for granted. Before getting locked up in the attic, being outside and with nature was normal. Cathy, Chris, and the twins were outside playing when their mother told them the news about moving. Being outside is what helps us grow. They never really realized how important it was until they were locked away for three years. The twins stopped growing, all of them had no energy, and they were pale. They never realized the importance until it was too late.

The main character of this story is Catherine, otherwise known as Cathy. At the beginning of the story she is merely a twelve year old girl with no responsibility and at the end she is fifteen and taking care of her younger siblings. The story was told in her eyes. She told of her life before the attic, living in the attic, and her dreams for when she was finally out. She wanted to be a ballet dancer, so when they figured out about the attic, she would dance for hours and hours practicing, so she could be a famous dancer when she got out. She went from childhood to maturity which brought a lot of changes. She stepped up in the role of being a mother to the twins, when her own mother disowned them, she learned to put others first, making sure the twins had enough before she ate, and most importantly taught herself her dream.

I would recommend this book to high school students and older. Some of the content is a bit more mature and some parents might not want their children reading it. This was my second time reading it and I can honestly say, it is one of my favorites. After reading it for a second time, I got a better understanding of things I didn’t get the last time I read it. I watched the movie before reading the book and personally I think the book is so much better. Everybody should read it!

  12. Title: Where the Red Fern Grows
    Author: Willson Rawls

A young boy named Billy lives in the country and has a passion for coon hounds. He really wants to get two hounds but unfortunately his family was poor so they could not afford them. Billy had to find a way on his own to earn enough money to get them without getting in to trouble. When he finally gets the dogs he is filled with joy and goes hunting with them. Billy’s dogs are such good hunters that they enter in a competition on who can catch the most coons. The climax of this story is that Billy and his dogs have to face challenges between life and death with a mountain lion.

The biggest conflict the group had was person versus nature. For example take the coons that were being hunted. They tried to run away but, Billy and his dogs tried to capture them. Another example of person versus nature is when the mountain lion was trying to kill all of them. The dogs fought the lion to save Billy and themselves. The lion hurt one of the dogs so badly, that when it got home it died. The other one was so sad that her partner was going to be gone forever feel into depression and died. Also, there was a blizzard during the competition and that qualifies as nature. A few smaller conflicts that happened in this story were person versus person. Billy really wanted those two hounds but his parents would not get him them. The other people who's dogs where competing where kind of going against Billy because they wanted their dogs to win.

I chose the theme to be “shot for your goals and someday you will make it there (even if it takes a while).” Billy’s dream was to get those two coon hounds, and he did after two years! Since Billy’s family was poor, his parent could not afford the dogs and so it was up to himself to earn the money. Billy did a lot of jobs and slowly the money to buy the dogs started piling up. If Billy would have thought “I will never earn enough money to buy them” and given up, he would never have gotten the dogs. In this story, the dogs help show the theme. How the dogs help represent the theme is that when they went hunting for the coons, if the coon tricked them they would still keep searching for the trails until they found them.

The protagonists of the story are the two coon hounds and Billy. How I know that is they are the ones whose point of view the story is mostly being told from. They play the biggest role in the story and the whole book is focused on the three of them. The most important changes the three of them went through together is the hounds ( their partners/best friends ) dying, one following the other, after the lion attack.

Yes, I would recommend this book to other people in the age range of middle school and higher. Why I would recommend it in that age is because it might be harder to understand for littler people and it has a little bit of a gross part towards the ending. This book is a heart touching story, and is very well written. Even though it’s a sad ending, it’s worth a read!

  13. Trimester Book Report
Harry Potter And The Sorcerer’s Stone
    J.K Rowling
The exposition of the story starts with a boy named Harry Potter, He lives with his awful aunt Petunia and uncle Vernon and their son Dudley, who bullies Harry constantly. On Harrys birthday a letter arrives in the mail, which is odd because mail never comes for Harry. uncle Vernon will not let Harry look at the letter, Harry doesn't know why. Everyday multiple letters come in the mail for Harry, making uncle Vernon more and more furious. finally uncle Vernon gathers the family and drives on a road trip. They stop at a shack for the night and a man named Hagrid shows up scaring the Dursley’s silly. Harry finds out he’s a wizard and he cant believe it. Harry gets invited to attend Hogwarts a school of witchcraft and wizardry, he accepts. At Hogwarts Harry meets lots of new friends some good, and some not. As the year goes on Harry overhears something about a sorcerer’s stone as he learns more about it he finds out its a stone that gives immortality. Harry realizes the stone is going to be stolen. He tries everything he can to save it. The climax happens when Harry battles Voldemort, to save the stone, and he wins. Harry and Hogwarts are safe...for now.

The major conflict of this story is person vs. person. The conflict is Harry battles Voldemort. Voldemort killed Harry’s parents when Harry was only a baby. The conflict begins when Harry attempts to save the sorcerer stone from professor Snape, but he finds out that it was professor Quirrell and Voldemort instead. Voldemort uses Harry to find the stone by using the mirror of erised, which is a mirror that shows you what you want the most at that moment if you stand in front of it. Harry does and it shows Harry looking in his pocket and finding the stone. When professor Quirrell asks what he sees, Harry lies, Voldemort knew he was lying, so In a fit of anger Voldemort says to seize Harry and runs to him, Harry puts his hands out and burns Voldemorts face. Harry wouldn’t let go of Voldemort’s face until he couldn’t stand it any longer and blacks out. Harry saved the stone.

The theme of this story is don’t let fame get to your head. Harry acts the same when he spends his 10 awful years living with the Dursleys and when he finds out he has lots of wealth and is famous in the wizard world. Harry is one of the best quidditch players at hogwarts and being one of the youngest people to ever play a keeper, Harry doesn’t go and tell everyone but instead just has fun. All of this stuff helped Harry save the stone, if it wasn’t for Harry being so kind and helpful that stone could have been stolen. Harry does not feel he’s any different than anybody else, which makes him great to be around.

Harry Potter is the protagonist of the story. He has been through so many changes thats its crazy he got through it. Harry started off as a sad boy who always got hand me downs and had to sleep in a closet, to a boy who has an entire vault of money galore! Harry also had a bit of a slow start to learning about magic but his friend Hermione helped him set schedule study times, so he passed all of his finals. Harry was a bit behind then the other kids at Hogwarts because he didn’t even know magic existed, but that did not stop Harry the least bit. It made him stronger.

I would definitely recommend this book to anyone and everyone, but most specifically to people who want to find a story that’s heartwarming and thrilling. If you start this book you won't be able to put it down until its finished. This book shows that no matter how hard your life is you can always get through it. Harry is such a great role model to follow and i aspire to be just like him. The conflict between Voldemort and Harry shows that no matter what kind of a person you are, there will always be people that agree or don’t agree with you, but the way Harry deals with it is defeat them. Next time you are looking for a great read, check out Harry Potter and the sorcerer's stone.

  14. Safe Haven. Report by: Kelsey Breiter Hr. 6

The exposition of this story starts off with a girl named Katie that moves to South Port, North Carolina and her past is untold. She seems very scared and cautious about her past. She gets a job at a restaurant and lives in a small beat-up cottage in the woods. Her neighbor is a woman named Jo. They become good friends. Kaitie also becomes good friends with a man named Alex and his kids. Alex and Katie begin to fall in love and parts of Katie’s past is told. She eventually reveals that she is married and she ran away from her crazy husband that would abuse her. She also tells Alex that her husband is looking for her and that her husband will kill her if he finds her. The climax of the story is when Kevin (her husband) finds her and becomes very violent and insane to bring her home. Kevin doesn’t do much damage. In the end Kevin ends up dead by his own police gun. Alex, Katie and the kids end up safe.

A major conflict is when Josh almost drowns. Alex and Katie were talking in the store while Josh was fishing outside on the dock. Katie stared at the monitor when she noticed that Josh had fallen in. Alex noticed Katie was looking at the monitor so he looked at it and also notice that Josh was drowning. Alex ran and jumped in the water and saved Josh. Katie kept Kristine company and comforted her. Alex saved Josh and thanked Katie.

I think the theme of this story is “be yourself”. Katie was never able to be herself when she was with her husband because she would get beat if he didn’t like something she did. After she ran away from Kevin she learned to be herself and do what she felt was right. “I have been able to do what i want since i have been here. I feel more free.” - Katie.

The protagonist in this book is Katie/Erin. I know she is that protagonist because the book is all about her and it talks about her life before and after she ran away. It shows Alex’s point of view once and a while and it also shows Kevins but it mostly shows Katies. Some other changes she made that took place are that she cut her hair and dyed it brown. She also took better care of herself by getting a job and owning her own house and items which she never had before.
I would recommend this book to teenage girls. This is a romance book, so I don’t think boys would really like it. It is also too advanced and may be inappropriate for little kids to read. I also think that most adults would find it a little sappy at times. I found this book exciting, romantic, and kept me hanging. I really liked this book, and think that most teenage girls would too.

Percy Jackson, Zoe,Thalia, Grover, and Bianca went on an adventure to save the god Artemis and Annabeth. As they went on their trip skeletons who was sent by luke and the general to destroy them. Bianca then dies by a metal giant giving her life to save the rest of them. When they got to california they found out that Atlas (the general) was Zoe’s father. Zoe died by saving her god Artemis’s life and by helping them put atlas back to where he belonged. Then they went to Olympus to vote if they should kill the two child of the eldest gods. Artemis then asked if thalia wanted to join the hunt. Thalia said yes. Then when annabeth, percy, and grover got back to camp half blood they had told chiron what had happened. Then percy went and told nico what had happened to his sister. Then they were ambushed by the three skeletons that ad chased him during their quest. Nico then saved their life by opening a hole into the ground thus saving their life. Soon later percy found out that Nico and Bianca was hades child.

The major conflict was that they had to rescue annabeth and artemis and find the monster that can destroy Olympus. Percy, Zoe, and Thalia went to california to help artemis and annabeth from luke and the titans. When they finally got there artemis was holding up the sky. So percy took over of holding up the sky while artemis and zoe fought the titan general (atlas). Then artemis defeated atlas and made him hold up the sky.

I think that the theme of the story was to never give up on people. I picked this theme because percy never believed that annabeth was dead or missing. Percy went on the trip to save annabeth and he never once stopped thinking about saving her. I also picked this theme because of another reason, because annabeth also never believed that luke had died.

The protagonist was Percy Jackson. Percy Jackson is a half blood, the son of poseidon the water god. I knew that he was the son of poseidon because he can use the water all around him to heal him and make waves in the oceans.

Yes I would recommend this book to my friends because it’s a very good book because of the adventures that they have in the story. I would definitely recommend this book to someone who likes to read Rick Riordan’s books.

  16. Trimester Book Report
Book: The Fault in Our Stars
    Author: John Green

The Fault in Our Stars is about a girl named Hazel who has cancer. Her parents put her in cancer support group where kids who have/had cancer come to. Here at the support group she meets a boy named Augustus. After the group session Gus wanted to show Hazel a movie. So after the movie he let Hazel read one of his favorite books, An Imperial Affliction by Peter van Houten. After reading the book Hazel wants to find out what happened after the main character, Anna, dies from cancer. So Gus and Hazel decide to send an email to the author’s assistant. The assistant said that they could come to visit the author in Amsterdam. They were so very excited to met Mr. Van Houten, but were very disappointed to find out how he really was. He didn’t want to talk about what happened to everyone after Anna died to Hazel and Gus. After Gus and Hazel left the house they decided to go to a museum. At the museum is where Hazel and Gus kiss. That’s the moment Hazel realized that she also loved Gus. Gus once confessed to Hazel that he loved her. When they go back to the U.S. Hazel and Gus spent most of their time together. After a while Gus starts having some health issues. They take him to the doctors and find out that the cancer was coming back. He knew he was gonna die, so he asks Hazel and one of his good friends to hold a “funeral” for him. Gus said to Hazel that he wanted to attend his own “funeral”. A week or so later after the “funeral” Gus dies. It was hard for everyone who knew Gus, but it was even harder for Hazel. At Gus’ funeral Hazel didn’t really cry. Although when she got home from the funeral she broke down and cried.

Some of the conflicts in the story were that Hazel had cancer. This is a person vs nature type of conflict. Hazel has had cancer for about 4 years, and it caused her to be taken out of highschool. It also caused her to not feel like a very social person, so resulting with her to get into reading lots of books and stuff. The cancer affected her lungs. Causing them to fill up with water. She also has some trouble breathing, so she always has a oxygen tank with her. Gus was really the person to get her to come out of her protective shell.

Not even death can kill love. To me this is the theme of The Fault in Our Stars. Because even after Gus’ death Hazel still loved him with all of her heart. Whenever she missed him after his death she would go to his house and lay in his bed, just to smell his scent. That was before his parents decided to move out his things. When Mr. Van Houten told Hazel that his own daughter died from cancer and that his daughter was the inspiration for Anna and that after his daughter died he and his wife split up. He then also revealed that Gus wrote an “epilogue” to An Imperial Affliction just for Hazel. She goes and looks for it. The novel ends with Hazel answering Augustus' letter by saying that she did in fact enjoy the infinity that he gave her within numbered days as much as he said he enjoyed his with her.

Hazel was the protagonist in The Fault in Our Stars. We readers can tell this because the story was mainly around her. Like what happened in her everyday life and just mainly the stuff that happened around her. We were there with her when her lungs started to fill up with water, when she got the phone call from Gus that he needed her help, etc. We read what she went through /felt like when Gus died and during/after the funeral. Some of the changes she went through was meeting Gus and falling in love with him. Another change she went through was when she lost Gus to cancer.

I HIGHLY recommend this book to people because it’s about how these two strangers who both had cancer found love and went on adventures. They connected through their cancer problems and found out they like some of the same things. They went on an adventure to Amsterdam to find their ex favorite author, and explored the city of Amsterdam. Their love was so strong that even after Gus’ death Hazel still love him with all of her heart.

Summarizing the plot: Tom Barry summer starts off bad and it only got worse, when his best friend mouse brown had robbed the grocery store he worked at and had almost killed his boss, Mr. Kerr. Now he only has the summer to write a 47 page story to make up all the missing assignments he didn’t complete in his 10th grade english class. Finally an incident that had happened at his uncle’s resort that almost ended his life for good.

The major conflict of the story: THe major conflict was the robbery scene that happened at mr.kerr’s grocery store where tom saw and heard mouse’s voice and had knew that it was mouse and two other people that had robbed the store. Mouse’s didn’t rob the store but he did injured mr.kerr really bad and tom was the only witness to that crime that was committed and now he has the option to tell the truth and put his best friend in jail or to lie about him seeing or hearing nothing.

The theme of the story: The theme to me in this story would have to be “Tell the truth for a better outcome”. I picked this moral lesson because, though tom had put his best friend in jail, he did it for a good reason, the less harm they have in their city, the less worries people will have.

Who is the protagonist and how did you know: The protagonist in this story is tom barry because he’s telling the story of course, on what had happened to him during his summer vacation in the 47 page assignment he has to make up from getting robbed, to almost getting killed by a motorcycle.

Would you recommend this book to anyone: I would recommend this book to anyone who likes suspense and action in a story that can take you on an adventure you’d never want end from start to finish, it’ll change the way you look at people and who to trust yourself with and always to tell the truth no matter the circumstances are it’s the right thing to do, for your self and others around you.

  18. Title: The Wave
    Author: Morton Rhue

The plot of this story is quite unique in the way that it comes together in the end. The
story is about a high school history teacher that does an experiment with his students and it
gets a little out of hand. The history teacher is named Ben Ross, and he is teaching his class
about the Nazis and how they were able to make the Germans think the way they did enough
to get them to go to war for the cause that Hitler told them they could achieve. Ben’s class all
thought that no one could ever be hypnotized like that, but just to prove to them that it could
happen, he set up the experiment. they started telling their Friends about the experiment and then they would tell their friends and they would tell their friends until the whole school know about the movement known as The Wave. Then going along with the motto “strength through discipline, strength through community, strength through action” some students actually started threatening kids that did not want to join. The climax of the story is ben calls a wave meeting in the auditorium of the school and was able to get his point across about what the students had turned themselves and everyone else into, some students were shocked, others were saddened and some were even frightened of what others will think of them after the whole ordeal was over.

The major conflict of this story is that all the kids in the high school are now a group of
unstoppable students that have blindly followed a history teacher into a state of which they
think everyone in the group is equal and everyone that refuses to join is below them and must
join or pay the price. This conflict is a person versus society because the rest of the kids in the
school have joined and it is up to the protagonist to follow the group or fight it and the wrath
that is now contaminating the school. The conflict that everyone is joining a group of potential
Nazis is resolved when the history teacher, Ben Ross, gets up in front of all of the wave
members and shows them what they have become by joining the wave group and the thought
process that goes along with it.

I believe that the theme of this story The Wave is that you should never follow someone
blindly or without question. The high school students in this book did what they were told when
Ben told them to do something and started doing it throughout the story without questioning
what or why they were doing what they were doing. As the book states, the students didn’t even stop to consider what effect that this might have on kids who walked to the beat of their own drum and didn’t want to join the wave, they just went along with the wave because it was the new big thing. The students just blindly welcomed the idea into their open arms.

Believe it or not Ben Ross, the history teacher is not the main protagonist of this story.
Laurie Saunders is the main character, every last one of her friends are in The Wave, and she is
the one that is battling the members because she is the only one that can see that The Wave is
doing nothing but bring harm to people that are and are not in the wave. So she uses the school
paper, and she talks to Ben (the leader of the wave), and she tries to get people to see how
much of a bad thing that the wave really is. I know that she is the protagonist because the story
is mainly focused on her. She is the one who is doing all the work to fight and cancel out The
Wave movement and restore peace to the high school ecosystem. The book is concentrating
a lot on how here friends are abandoning her because they think she should join the wave
because then she will consider everyone equal and she won’t be considered smarter than
    everyone any more.

I would recommend this book to everyone from ages 1 to 92 to read this book because
it is a very meaningful book if you get how the theme is portrayed.

    By: Natasha Friend

Samantha Gwenn is a 13 year old girl who has an alcoholic dad. She struggles a lot with it and really doesn’t know how to help him so they can have a happy family again and things wouldn’t be so hard. Samantha has a little brother, Luke who is 4. She tries really hard to keep him away from her dad when he is drunk because sometimes her dad comes home really drunk and doesn’t think before he does a single thing. It only took 1 time that when she was in the other room away from her brother when everything changes..

One of the major conflicts in this story is when Samantha’s dad came home really mad and drunk and didn’t think before he hit Samanthas innocent 4 year old brother on top of the head with a beer bottle. Her little brother had a gash on his head and when they got to the emergency room they find out that he needs to get stitches. After her dad realizes what he’s done to his kid, he figures out that he needs to get help. So he goes to a treatment center and slowly started to make progress to get better and stop drinking so he would could possibly get a job again and their family could start being happy again instead of worrying what he is going to do next.

In my point of view the theme of the story is love and friendship. Throughout the story samantha has to deal with her dad and his drinking problem, but in the end she learns to forgive him and still love him even through some rough times because family is the most important thing. Also friendship because through the story samantha has 3 best friends that always are there for her and she also has a friend that she met in the library by leaving a note in a book and hoping someone would find it and write on back to help her through some things going on in her life right now, thankfully as she hoped someone did write back and helped her through everything.

The protagonist in this story is samantha, the whole book is based off of her with friendships, and dealing with her dad and boys ect, through the story lots of things changed. Samantha’s dad stopped drinking for a little while… Well thats what she thought, she would find half full bottles of beer behind the toilets, in the cupboards, and hidden in his office, and a whole bunch of other places. After her dad got laid off he started not hiding it, he would get drunk every night and there really wasn’t anything samantha could do about it no matter how hard she tried.

Yes I would recommend this book to someone, mainly girls though because this book is all based off of a girl who has to deal with her alcoholic father, maybe some girls can also relate to this book also so that would be good for them and they could see how to help their parents if they have the same problems.

  20. Danny The Champion Of The World
    By Roald Dahl

First the book talk about Danny's life as a toddler. Then it talks about his life now and how he likes the little wagon he lives in and the shop his dad owns. After a while danny finds out his dad poaches pheasants. He poaches on a rich mans land named Mr Hazel. He has shooting every year. They shoot the peasants he has raised all year. The climax is when danny and his dad bag all the pheasants and bring them home. Eventually the birds sleeping pill wear off and they fly into the air and fall right back down. Mr Hazel drives by and is furious, he know what happened but the police do nothing about it. They try to scare the birds back onto his land so they be called his birds. But mr hazels rolls royce is sitting right there and the birds sit on it a scratch it all up.

The major conflict is Danny's dad vs mr hazel, which makes it person vs person. It is resolved when the birds sleeping pill wears off that they ate the night before that danny and his dad made to prevent the birds from going up into the trees for the night. Mr Hazel wants his birds back, but whoevers land the birds are on is that person birds. so they scare the back onto his land but Mr Hazels silver rolls royce is sitting in the way of the droopy birds. They land on his car and scratch it all over the place. Mr Hazel never comes back to there shop again.

I think the theme is to never give up. Danny's dad never gave up on poaching, he just took a break for about 10 years. Dad came up with the idea to poach all of the pheasants. he just needed a way to knock. The plan was to put some sleeping pill powder in a raisin and spread them out for the turkeys to eat. once the fall asleep the will go through and take them all. once the did this they would wait for the birds to go up into the trees and sleep, but the pill would make them groggy and fall out of the trees. then everybody who helped with this plan would get at least one pheasant. This would also help get rid of the evidence that connects danny and his dad to poaching the birds.

The protagonist in this story is Danny, i know this because he is the main character. As the story goes on he gets older and more mature. He also becomes very mechanically inclined. The thing that changes most is how he looks at his dad. He always thought his dad never broke laws, especially something like poaching.

I would recommend this book for sure. It is funny is some places and intense in other places. It also is just a really good book.

  21. Twilight

Twilight is a young adult vampire-romance novel written by Stephenie Meyer. It follows the story of isabella marie swan, or Bella, an accident prone girl who leaves behind her life in Arizona to live with her divorced father in the small town of Forks, Washington. Bella’s life takes an unexpected turn when she meets the Cullens, and one Cullen catches her eye more than the others; Edward. Before she knows it , she begins to fall for him but he has a dark secret. Edward and his family are vampires. they aren’t, however, like the typical bloodsucking vampires. This fanged family survives off of animal blood. Despite learning that the boy she loves is a vampire, Bella isn’t deterred. The climax of the book was when james, a nomadic vampire, happens to cross paths with Bella and Edward’s family. Bella’s smell happens to attract him, and the chase is on. Bella has a rare type of blood and james won’t stop until he has every drop of it . Knowing the life of the one he loves is in danger, Edward enlists the help of his family to do anything to keep Bella safe The final scene features James and Edward dueling it off while Bella desperately clings to her life as Jame’s venom courses through her veins. Edward eventually gets to Bella in time to suck out the vampire venom.

The main conflict in this story is person vs. person. Bella is trying to protect herself from James. Bella’s blood is rare in the vampire world, and once Jame catches a whiff of it, he wants it all. With the help of Edward. her overprotective and sometimes overbearing boyfriend, Bella is able to stay safe, but when she is lured by James into an abandoned ballerina studio it looks like the end until Edward swoops in and saves the day. James is eventually be-headed by Edward.

A theme that fits the book Twilight is “true love is strong” all though in the book it is clear that Bella and Edward have just met, they make an unbreakable bond. One of Bella’s most known lines shows proof of that; “About three things I was absolutely positive. First, Edward was a vampire. Second, there was a part of him- and i didn’t know how dominant that part may be - that thirsted for my blood . And third, “I was unconditionally and irrevocably in love with him”.Edward also establishes this quote too. “and so the lion fell in love with the lamb….,’ he murmured. I looked away, hiding my eyes as I thrilled to the word. ‘what a stupid lamb,’ I sighed. ‘What a sick masochistic lion.’’ This phrase shows that although the know they are “bad for each other” they can’t stay away because of Bella’s love for Edward vice versa.

Bella Swan, the protagonist in the book Twilight, goes through a great deal of change throughout the book. In the beginning she was more reserved and mature than the other kids her age with the responsibilities she had early on after her parents divorced. whether it was lying to her father, facing her assailant to save her mother or dating a vampire as she becomes more comfortable with Edward, Bella begins to take more risks. Towards the end of the story, Bella’s desire to be with Edward also heightens and she begins to fantasize about one day becoming a vampire.

I would most definitely recommend Twilight to others. From fast-paced action to intimate romantic scenes, it has content for everyone. Its plot guaranteed to keep readers engaged. It constantly kept me at the edge of my seat. Readers also get a deeper look at Bella’s character as a whole throughout the book.

  22. Pride and Prejudice
    By: Jane Austen
Pride and Prejudice ia about a girl name Elizabeth Bennet. She has four sisters(from eldest to youngest- Jane, Elizabeth, Mary, Kitty, Lydia), a father who she loves, and a mother who is desprate to get her daughters all married to young rich men. Charles Bingley is a young rich man who rented the manor of Netherfield park close to Longbour. That news cause a great stir in the town of Longbour especialy in the Bennet household. Mr.Bingley takes a liking to Jane the eldest Bennet. Mr.Bingley has a close friend named Fitzwilliam Darcy. Darcy is very rich but had a horrible first impression which make everyone view him as arrogant and obnoxious.Elizabeth can’t stand Mr.Darcy because of that but slowly finds herself falling for him. Elizabeth is guilty of prejudice and Darcy of pride.

The main conflict is that Elizabeth is confused on her feelings toward Mr.Darcy. Elizabeth’s prejudice makes her misjudge Darcy based on a poor first impression. Elizabeth doesn’t want to have feelings for Darcy but she can’t fight the attraction she has for him. Mr.Darcy is also confused on his feelings toward Elizabeth. Mr.Darcy’s pride makes him think that he can’t be with Elizabeth because she is lower class then he is. He belives that he has to marry someone of his class and Elizabeth just doesn’t fit that prospective.

There are lots of themes that could fit his story but pride and prejudice would be the main themes for this novel. In this book pride prevents the characters from seeing the truth of a situation and from achieving happiness in life. For example when Darcy refuses do dance with anyone at the ball that shows that Darcy thinks he is to good to dance with anyone outside of his own social circle. Prejudice is also a theme because it prevents the characters from seeing the truth of a person. When Elizabeth first meets Mr.Darcy she sees how he refused to dance with anyone and immediately assumed that he was arrogant and obnoxious that shows prejudice.

The protagonist is Elizabeth because all the action is around her. Elizabeth is very different from the other girls in her family and in the town. She refused Mr.Darcy’s first marriage proposal to her when any of the girls in her family or town would kill to get just a look from Mr.Darcy. But her being different from the other girls is what draws Darcy to her. Elizabeth has to let go of pride and prejudice to get what she wants or in this case who she wants .

Yes, I would recommend this to people in highschool or older. The reason why I recommend this book is because it is genuinely funny the characters all have different personalities that make this book intersting. Also the plot and just the way it’s writen is intersting and fun but the book is also a serious and romantic love story.

  23. Million Dollar Throw
    By: Mike Lupica

This book is about a boy named Brady who is an all-star QB in eighth grade. His life is great ! His football team is winning , his best friend is always with him and they are having fun. Then things go wrong. His life is falling apart after it was perfect. Abby has to go off to another school and live there for a while because she is going blind. They hardly talk anymore , and his life is getting worse. The good thing is that he gets a chance to win one-million dollars. Can he do it ?

The major conflict in this book is Brady does not have as good of a throw that he used too. He doesn’t have as much power in his throw, and his accuracy is bad. He is going through a rough time in his life and thats why his throw is off. Abby won’t talk to him because she’s at the special school, and his dad is never home to watch football or play catch with him. So Brady is really sad. This is resolved by Abby finally talking to him, and his dad gets a day of work, so he plays catch with Brady and talks about everything. He also helps him with his throwing to get it back to normal. This conflict is Person vs. Person because Abby won’t talk to him and his dad is never there for him.

In my point of view the theme is never give up on anything you know you can do. I think this because Brady was doing so good at QB. Then everything was getting messed up, and his life was going bad. For instance, He could never see Abby because she had to go to a special school, and he rarely talked to her. He was really sad because that was his best friend and he could no longer see her and talk to her. In the end everything was getting better, because he never gave up.

The protagonist in this story is Brady. It talks about his life, how things are going, and what he’s thinking. Some changes he has in his life that he faces are, he loose’s Abby for a while and that puts him into depression mode. He tries to call her but he doesn’t answer and that makes him more sad. He doesn’t feel like his parents are there for im like they used to be because his dad works all the time. They both are going through financial issues, and that makes his mom mad/sad because she feels like she can support her family.

I would recommend this book to anyone who loves football, or loves football books. This book is great. It tells you about this boy named Brady’s life and how everything was going god then it fell apart. This could happen to any football player out there. This book makes you not want to stop reading because it is interesting and just overall a good book. Everyone should read it at any time in their life if thy love football.

  25. Alibi Junior High
    By: Greg Logsted

Cody Saron is 13 years old. After a cafe bombing meant to kill him and his father, who is an undercover CIA agent, is sent to live with his aunt Jenny, where he also starts going to junior high. He is also in hiding. His mom died when he was only a baby. After living with Jenny for a couple of days, he has to start his first day ever at junior high. Jenny tells him where his bus stop is. On his first day, Cody walks to his bus stop, and no one else is there, so he worries. Soon a girl arrives there while talking on a cell phone. At school he meets steroid Steve (the school’s security guard), who thinks he’s a trespasser. He later gets his schedule. While in the principals office reading his schedule, he see’s the most beautiful girl he’s ever seen- Renee Carrington. His gym teacher, coach Dinatelli, calls him teacup, and to make it worse, he made cody wear a girl’s gym uniform because he forgot his. He get’s in a fight with the gym class bullies, ending up in the principal's office again. Instead of getting in trouble, he had to teach the boys how to fight. Cody hears someone outside so he sneaks out to see what it is, and its someone carrying an assault rifle and a box. The next morning, him and Jenny have a long discussion and he finds out something shocking about his crush Renee. When he gets to school, he arrives only to see that everyone hates him including Renee.

There are two types of conflicts in Alibi Junior High. One is person vs self. Cody tries to teach himself how to fit in with everyone else at school and it's not exactly the easiest task for him. Another conflict is person vs person. Cody Saron isn't the average typical middle schooler. He gets in lots of trouble with the other people in his school. He seems to be in trouble a lot more than a normal teenager. There is a lot more external conflict in the book than there is internal. Throughout the story, he gradually gets in trouble less and less at school, but the conflict is never really fully solved.

The theme in this book is value what you have and the people you care about because you might not have them when you need them most. This theme is expressed because Cody lost his mom when he was only 2 years old, and he wishes she could be there with him when he's going through tough times. He also misses his dad a lot when he's forced to go live with aunt Jenny because trouble around his dad heats up. He pretty much has no contact with his dad at all and when he does get to talk to him it's only for a minute. He values that minute so much each time, wishing it could be longer.

Cody Saron is the protagonist and main character. He used to live with his dad who taught him mixed martial arts and 5 languages. When something happens, he has to go to junior high and learn how to blend in. He is a complete outsider at his school. He has never been to a public school in his entire life. He doesn't know how the kids dress or act. Learning how to act and fit in his biggest mission yet.

I would recommend this book to teens because, I think that it's a good book for middle schoolers and each chapter keeps leaving you wanting to read more. It's great for people who enjoy action, mystery, adventure, and/or realistic fiction genre books. It is also a fast paced story and the characters are very likeable.

  26. Harry Potter and The Sorcerer’s Stone
    By: J.K.Rowling
Harry Potter and the sorcerer’s of stone is about a boy named Harry, when harry was a baby a powerful dark wizard named Voldemort killed his parents and tried to kill him.Voldemort couldn't kill harry because he was protected by his mother’s love, but when he tried he left a lightning bolt scar on his forehead. When harry was one he got adopted by his mean aunt&uncle.Ten years later he get’s an acceptance letter from Hogwarts, a school for witchcraft and wizardry signed by the headmaster Albus Dumbledore .
The next day a half giant named Hagrid tells harry all about his parents going to Hogwarts and how they were great wizards. He mentions that his father was famous for being a seeker in the game of quidditch, which is basically like soccer but in the air. Hagrid also takes harry to the bank where he finds out that his parents had left him with more money than he could ever imagine. Next they had to stop for a secret package for Sir Albus Dumbledore. After that they went school shopping for black robes, school books, a wand and an owl for sending & receiving mail and for comfort. Six months later he leaves for Hogwarts.Once he got into the main hall they were all sorted into their houses at Hogwarts there are 4 houses Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin they were founded by the first 4 wizards at hogwarts. After being picked in the house of Gryffindor Harry meets a redheaded boy named Ron & a girl named Hermione and become best friends.

The major conflict in Harry Potter is when he and his friends find out about a secret stone hidden in the dungeon’s of hogwarts. They than ask themselves why anybody would try to steal a stone.? Later on they assume that Severus Snape their potion teacher is trying to steal the stone, but what they don’t know is that carved in the middle of the stone is a little glass bottle filled with purple liquid called the Elixir of life, the Elixir of life grants any human or creature immortality. The type of conflict in the story is Person vs. Person because harry had,had a battle with Professor Quirrell (voldemort) about destroying the elixir, or taking it.The conflict is resolved by the stone being destroyed and professor quirrell dying.

The theme for this story is to keep your friends close and your enemies closer, harry had thought he was friends with professor quirrell but he was very wrong. His relationship with hermione & ron is going very well they have each other’s backs if anything would happen to any of them. I picked this as the theme because i thought it goes good with the situation that they were in.

Harry James Potter is the protagonist in the story because he is a caring loyal friend also there’s already an antagonist which is the dark lord Voldemort who does horrible things to people who don’t do as he says.

I would recommend this book to middle schoolers because it’s very detailed and will you have reeled in by the second chapter. If you're into magical creatures, & magic spells than this is the book for you. It talks about true friendships, moving away calling a place home and how meeting new people can be fun.

Jame Wills is struggling to keep her life in tack after her grandmother’s death everything has been going wrong in her life, like how people are comparing her to her sister darcy and and how her family isn’t paying any attention to her unless she’s failing in school because of the baby that’s on the way. The trouble begins at cheerleading practice when vanessa and her friends starts teasing angel the new girl in bluford high when the teasing get’s ugly jamie tries to stop it but now she’s the next target. It starts from the texting lies of pictures about her and angel to the whole school, she’s doesn’t want to tell her family or snitch on vanessa and her friends that are doing it, now she has the decision to solve her problems or make them worse.

Jamie is failing her algebra class and is being harass around the school but at the same time she’s trying to help her friend angel who is being harassed by a group of cheerleaders that will do anything for her not to join the squad and so jamie decide to step in and stop those girls from doing so but now they have turned on her for revenge by texting a photo of angel and jamie “together” when jamie who already has a boyfriend, now jamie has to either tell their cheer coach or fight the girls that are making these remarks.

The theme to me in this story would have to be “Stand for what you believe is right no matter the consequences.” I chose this moral because jamie is doing the right thing to stop those girls that are making angel feel unwanted and scared to be herself and to join the cheerleading squad.

The protagonist in this story is Jamie Wills who is struggling to keep her grades up in school and the stuff that are being said about her and her ex bobby wallace reputation in school. And the plan to stop vanessa and her friends from harassing angel.

Would you recommend this book to anyone: I would recommend this book to anyone who likes drama and suspense, also a person who needs advice on high school and what is like from this perspective of this book. High school isn’t all that easy and sometimes you need a little advice from a friend, family, even a book at times can help you get through it.
