  1. Ms. Kramar
    Example

Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck

Of Mice and Men takes place during the Great Depression. Lenny and George are best friends who are traveling workers. It seems as is they have to bounce around a lot because Lenny is, as we can infer, mentally challenged. George has always been a good friend to Lenny and helps look after him. Their final stop is at a ranch in California, but Lenny’s innocent but violent behaviors soon escalate. The book ends with Lenny having to decide how he should clean up George’s final, and deadly mistake.

The major conflict in this story is person versus society. Mental disabilities were not understood during this time period. This causes many problems for Lenny, who had to work, but could not always make the right decisions or control his actions. Because nobody but George understood him, people could not forgive him when he bad mistakes. That is why George has to kill Lenny, as a friend, after Lenny accidently kills Curley’s wife to resolve the conflict.

The theme of the story is that the American dream is essentially impossible to achieve during the Great Depression. Not only did Lenny and George want to be able to live comfortably, but they also wanted to live in peace. George knew that was not possible with Lenny’s condition after he realized he could not cover for him forever. Lenny made too many mistakes for them to stay in one place and earn enough money for their dream farm.

The protagonists are Lenny and George. Although they are both the main focus of the story and they are in almost every single scene together, George goes under the most change. He began making friends and relied less on Lenny’s companionship. He has spent most of his life taking care of Lenny and his mistakes. Once they got to the ranch, he put more and more distance between the two of them, like when he went out with the other workers and left Lenny at home. In the end, he made the decision to kill Lenny civilly before Curley could do it in an inhumane way.

I would recommend this book for high schoolers and older. It is a piece of classic literature that everyone should read in their life time. I find it interesting in many ways. I like that it deals with the topics of the American dream, mental illness, and the bond between friends. Of Mice and Men should be on everyone’s reading list.

  2. BOOK REPORT
    Title: Out of My Mind
    By: Sharon M. Draper
This book is about a girl that is in a wheelchair and can’t walk or talk to people. She has a laminated piece of paper with words on it to talk to people she points to the word she is trying to say. After a while she got a talking machine for her to use to talk to people, she had to type in the word then it would say it. Then she went to a contest against all the other schools in the state, it is the spelling bee.

The major conflict is when the students where bullying her because she wasn’t the same as them. She was sad because they where being mean too and not treating her nicely. So how the conflict was solved is that she showed her classmates that she is smart because she went to the spelling bee. After that when they went they where happy to have her on there team for the spelling bee.

The theme is how the girl is treated in this story and how she gets over it. She first starts out as not getting liked because of her issues. After she gets a talking machine so she can talk and communicate. How she gets over comes it is by always being positive and never getting down on her self.

The main character is a girl in a wheelchair. and I know she is the main character because it is told in her point of view. She underwent a lot because she can’t talk or walk and she got a talking device. She also went to the spelling bee with a few other lucky kids like here that where picked to go to it.

Yes, I would recommend this book to elementary kids and middle school kids also. Because it is a good book to teach kids that treat people the way you want to be treated.

  3. THE LIGHTNING THEIF Alonzo Thomas

    BY: RICK RIORDAN

This book is about a half-blood name Percy. What is a half-blood you may ask. A half-blood is a person that has a parent that is a god and a parent that is a human. Percy doesn’t know this. He thinks he has dislexia. He has a gardian name grover. At one point percy was attacked. His mom tryed to take him to camp half-blood. His mom gets killed, and then he goes in camp half-blood. He realises that his dad is persidon god of the sea. The climax was when his mom dies.

The main conflict is when he is accused of having zueses lightning bolt. He is approched by his uncle hadies god of the underworld. He is saying that he has his mother, he will give her if he gives the lighting bolt. He goes into the underworld with a sweild with a sword that his freind gave him. He is being attacked by hadies and hadies sees in the sheild their is lighting bolt. Luke must have put it in their. after thieir done with hadies he gives zues the lightning bolt. well before he gives the bolt he has an epic battle with luke.

The theme i think is “you cant always trust your freinds”. Because his freind luke betrayed him because he hid the lightining bolt in sheild. so that caused him to go into this whole jorney.

The protaganist is Percy. Because he is the main character and is trying to make sure the gods dont get into a war. He undergoes getting killed having his freinds killed. He killes medusa. Killes Hydra. In bunch of epic battles.

I would recommend this book to middle schoolers. If your into action, Mythology

  4. Title:Catching Fire

    Author:Suzanne Collins

Catching Fire is the second book in the Hunger Games series. In this one Katniss Everdeen after competing in the Hunger Games (kids fighting other kids to the death) Now she has to to fight in the quarter quell. This is when all living tributes fight each other again. Hasn’t she already been through enough?

The major conflict in this story is that Katniss has to fight in another death game. THis is a person vs. person conflict because people are trying to kill her… violently. The only people not trying to kill her are Finnick and Peeta. It is resolved by her yet again… winning. All she does is win.

The theme of this story is Your friends will help you out of a jam. Peeta and Finnick help Katniss as she wins the Quarter Quell. Katniss has the best friends and the bravest friends ever.

The main protagonist is Katniss Everdeen. She is the one talking and she is also the main character of The Hunger Games. She nearly died in the quarter quell. She is probably a little traumatized. Especially with what happened at the end...

I would recommend this book for middle schoolers . It is very violent and A lot of people die

  5. Demons Of The Ocean
    by:Justin Sompter

The story is about a brother and a sister named Connor and Grace. They were trying to get away from their house when lightning strikes it. So Connor and Grace go to a emergency boat that there dad made for them right before he passed away. They end up running into a rock and the boat breaks, then Connor gets saved by pirates and Grace gets on the vampirates ship. In the remainder of the story Connor tries to reunite with Grace and he has quite an adventure. The climax of the story would be when the pirates and the vampirates fight in a battle. During the battle the captains are talking and the vampirates captain tells his men and women to stop fighting.

The major conflict of this story would be when Connor and Grace split up and they try to find each other. So in the remainder of the story they have this long journey on different pirate ships and have very different adventures. They learn a lot of life lessons during this time before they find each other. The type of conflict that fits this story the most is Person vs. Person because Connor and Grace each have to face different challenges and conflicts with people. This conflict is resolved when the battle stops and Connor and Grace end up reuniting.

The theme of the story would be to try and never give up. If you try and then you don’t succeed the first time then you give up. You would never see or get what you were looking for. The textual evidence is the story describes how Connor works very hard to find his sister. Everything he does is for the the one goal, which is to find his sister.

The protagonist would be Connor. He saves his sister and he saves his crew members a couple of times in the story. He stayed up later than everyone to get better at sword fighting. He took better care of his body so he could be the best he could be. He also had to train himself to think and act like a pirate.

I would recommend this book to people that like action, suspense, and a little bit of drama. This book would be good for anyone from 6th grade to 8th grade.

  6. Burned
    By: Ellen Hopkins
This story is about a girl named Pattyn, she starts to question about God, a woman's role and love. Her dad catches her in an act that gets her in some trouble. After being suspended from school, Pattyn is forced to live with an aunt she’s never met. This is the turning point in the story and its not as bad as she thought it would be.

Throughout the story I come to notice that the main conflict is with her dad (person vs. person), he is an abusive alcoholic. He's children as well as his wife are completely afraid of him, and by sending her away they leave their issues unresolved. They don’t notice each others issues, so they can’t figure things out. By the end of the book their conflict is still going strong.

I think the theme is some punishments can turn out to be rewards. I say that because her dad sent her away to the rural parts of Nevada to punish her and renew herself, but she ends up finding love and and a welcoming family that she doesn't want to leave. Not everything goes as planned but it can work out for better or worse.

The protagonist is Pattyn, I know that because she's the main character and the story's told by her. She started off being afraid, worried and scared of the future, but by the end she's relaxed, comfortable and confident. She's not worried, she living in the moment.

I would recommend this book to teenagers, because its more of a mature context kind of book. It arouses certain emotions that I feel other books can’t. You feel like you're in the book! I especially feel that this would be a good book for girls, it has lots to do with what most girls are going through at the teenage years and can be used as a motivational book.

  7. Letting Ana Go

    Author: Anonymous

“Letting Ana Go” is a non-fiction story that came from a teenage girls diary. Ana was perfectly healthy, pretty girl with a lot going for her. She was a great runner too. Over the summer, Ana decides she wants to lose a few pounds. No big deal right? A turn of events soon leads to Ana suffering from the disease of Anorexia. “Letting Ana Go” is an inspiring story of the diary she left behind.

The Major conflict in the book “Letting Ana Go” is that she is suffering and battling from anorexia. This conflict is called Person vs. Self because she is fighting her own mind on whether or not to eat. The conflict never does get resolved in this story. She suffers from anorexia, but then she gets help. Sadly, she breaks and stops eating again.

The theme of this story is Image shouldn’t matter. One piece of evidence to follow the theme is Ana thinks she has to be skinny to be pretty. If she isn't she thinks her boyfriend will break up with her. Little does she know, her boyfriend doesn't care about her body image.

The protagonist of the story is Ana, the one suffering from Anorexia. I know she is the protagonist because she is the one telling the story. One change she undergoes is she loses 30 lbs. This makes her 20 lbs underweight. She also struggles with anorexia, which makes her think she is fat.

I would recommend this book to a teenage girl. I recommend this book because it is very intriguing. This book also gives you a life lesson about the dangers of anorexia. This book will definitely keep you up all night reading it. “Letting Ana Go” is a book that every girl should read.

  8. Title: Brain's Winter
    Author: Gary Paulsen

This story is about Brain and what could have happened if no one rescued him from the wild in the book hatchet. Brain lived in a place where it wasn't as cold as where he was so how never thought how the winter would be until one night he remembered where he was and what the winter is like here. Brain then wakes up and prepares for along time for winter like making a tighter warmer shelter and a coat and more. When winter came Brain thought it was the most beautiful thin on earth. The books ends on Brain's decision of staying or going home to his family.

The major conflict in this story is Brain vs. Nature which is person vs. thing. Brain has to under go lots of things like surviving the weather and living thing in the nature like animals and also getting food for his body is also hardworking, going with keeping himself warm. Away he solves his problems is making weapons for hunting, warmer close and going out for dry wood in the woods to keep running and make his fire.

The theme of the story also lesson or main idea of the story is to never give up or hard work will always pay off later in your life and might even save you. The reason I think for this is because Brain would alway get up in the morning and even if it was cold outside he would go out and get some wood to keep his fire burning in his shelter, make food, get some food and if needed, work on his clothing or equipment of his.

The protagonist of this story or main character is Brain and is also practically the only character in this book. I know for sure that he is the protagonist because he is practically the only person in this story and has the conflict in the book. During the time he was in the forest lost he grew mentally and physically because in the book he became more responsible and reliable on himself. He also became a lot more mature exhaust of all the responsibility.

I would recommend this book to anyone mostly towards middle and older elementary students because it is very interesting book for any one especially for people who like adventure and surviver books. It also would teach a person a thing or two about the wild.

  9. Pinch Hit.
    By: Tim Green

This story is about two kids, Trevor and Sam. Trevor is a movie star with no normal teen life. Sam is an amazingly gifted baseball player. When they meet they look like twins. Trevor comes up with an idea that will change both of their lives. Read what happens when... they switch places.

The main conflict in this story is hard because they are always on the same page, but I would say it's wanting to live the others ones life. They go through so many obstacles just to live or get something they want. This type of conflict is called person vs. fate. The lesson I got out of this was to just live your own life. Let what life gives you, come to you.
The theme of this story is to not wish for the life of someone else. Sam thinks he has to have a lot of money to have all the fancy things. Trevor wishes for a life he could have but chooses not to and he doesn't believe or even know the choice is his. They end up finding out they are identical twins.
The protagonist of the story is Sam and Trevor. The chapters switch back from both their points of views. The changes they both undergo are probably the biggest anyone could ever have. Trevor leaves the money and fame just to fit in. Sam gives up some baseball practices and games to help get his dad's book published in order for him and his dad to have more money.
I recommend this book for teen boys and sport lovers. The lesson you should take away is you have your life for a reason. This book will definitely get you hooked and have you staying up all night to read more. Pinch Hit is the book for you.

  10. Title: Beyonders Seeds of Rebellion

    Author: Brandon Mull

Jason Walker needs to find a way back to Lyrian. He needs to find his friend Rachel. The magic word they had been searching for was fake. He needed to get back to tell his friends he left behind there in order to defeat the evil emperor Maldor. Rachel discovers new powers that can help in the fight against Maldor. If they can get anyone to help rebel.

The conflict is Jason, Rachel, and their friend fighting to break free of the emperor Maldor. It is person vs. person. It is only the second book in the series and I don’t know yet how the conflict is resolved.

The theme i think is with lots of friends backing you up you can succeed. Jason and his friends are trying to start a rebellion. They can’t win themselves, so they are trying to unite the last free kingdoms in Lyrian. If they can all unite they will have a greater chance of overthrowing the emperor Maldor.

The protagonists are Jason and Rachel because the story is told from their point of view. They both learn that they have purpose in life. Rachel discovers a new ability that is a huge help to the rebellion. Jason finds the courage to lead.

I would recommend this book because it’s a fun fantasy book. It has humor, adventure, and fighting. If your going to read this i suggest reading the first one. Beyonders a World Without Heroes for this one to make any sense.

  11. One Of Us
    Anne Schraff

This book is about a high school student named Derrick Shaw. derrick has a loving family, and a good part time job, but one night he was riding his bike in an alley on his way home from work, he had witnessed a murder soon derrick seen the gunman's face it was his old friend bj, but they weren't very close anymore. In order to stay alive derrick had to promise he wouldn't tell nobody; not a single person. Derrick felt guilty for being silent and not telling the truth to his parents and the police.

The major conflict in this book is person vs. person. The conflict is resolved when bj takes his own life by driving off a cliff; he died because he did not want to go to prison.

The theme of this book is doing the right thing no matter how long it takes you to tell the truth. I believe that this is the theme of this book because derrick was threatened if he told the police he knew who had killed Rafe Wexford, derricks family was going to be killed as well; for that reason derrick kept quiet for weeks but soon derrick realized, that was a mistake and he should have said something to his parents or somebody.

The protagonist in this book is Derrick Shaw. I know that he is the protagonist because he is the only one who witnessed the murder and was threatened that night, also derrick is the one who is struggling to tell the truth about bj. before derrick didn't know weather to tell the truth but he then finally had the guts to tell someone about it.

I would recommend this book to young adults who are interested in drama books, because this book has a lot of drama. This can be read by male and female who are interested in drama books..

  12. Something like Fate
    Author- Susane Colasanti

Something like Fate is about a girl name Lani starting her second year of highschool with her best friend, Erin. Erin has gotten a new boyfriend name Jason. Jason and Lani seems to have more of a chemistry and fate and things in common instead of Erin and Jason. Jason and Lani soon falls in love causing some deep friendship drama...

A major conflict is when Lani tells the truth about Jason. This causes friendship to tear apart. People in school begin to bully her and many people are taking Erin’s side by calling her the “boyfriend stealer.” even her two best friends don’t even trust her no more! They seem to have lost friendship because of this faith.

The theme in Something like Fate is that you can’t change faith no matter how much you want to. Even if the faith will hurt your loved ones. Faith is something you can’t change. Faith chooses the things you do. Like how Lani tried to keep Jason away no matter how much Erin was hurt. Lani tried her best to keep away from him, but she can’t seem to leave him!

Lani is the protagonist because she is the main hero in the story. She went behind her best friends back and fell in love with her boyfriend and has to go threw the struggles of friendship lost and drama.

I would recommend this book to the middle schoolers and high schoolers because the setting takes place in highschool and it’s a simple school life drama full of friendship and young love.

  14. Title: “Catching Fire”
    Author: Suzanne Collins
In “Catching Fire” Katniss and Peeta have to go back into the hunger games. They have to play against the past victors. The climax was when Beetee, Johanna, Finnick, etc, were trying to figure something out about the lightning zones. So much action was going on in the scene. Cannons and lightning bolts were shot. A hovercraft came and took them after all that action that happened.

The conflict is person vs. person. Katniss and Peeta has to compete with the other victors. There’s also another conflict which is person vs. nature. There’s monkeys, lightning , and other resources that the creators from Panem created for the hunger games. The conflict isn’t really resolved yet since there’s still another book. Another conflict is the city Panem. It’s their fault that the hunger games exist.

The theme in this book is about the hunger games. Through districts they draw out a name as in who is going to participate. Once you get picked you can’t back out of it. The games make the players nervous. They’re having a competition in the hunger games. In life there can also be competitions.

In Catching fire there’s more than 1 protagonist. Katniss and Peeta are the protagonist because they are the main characters and are the characters who stand out through the whole series. There are some added people into the book. For example, Cinna who helps her with her clothes and make up. But most importantly, he guides her through, and helps her with her troubles.

I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who is interested in action and romance. This book has a lot of action in it and it has tons of details. The imagery pops out in your head. I’m excited to watch the movie “Catching Fire”. Everybody is talking about it.

  15. Title: The Red Pyramid
    Author: Rick Riordan

This book starts out when one of the main characters, Carter starts talking to you in a worried tone. He is saying things like “we don’t have much time” and “listen very carefully”. Carter travels to London to meet his sister Sadie who lives in London. Later on Sadie, Carter and their father travel to a museum. Their father said he was going to “make things right” and blows up the Rosetta Stone. In the blast their father released five of the Egyptian gods. While Carter and Sadie are walking back their uncle Amos appears. Amos takes them to the House of Life. This is where the journey begins.
One major conflict in the book is when Carter and Sadie’s father try to bring back their dead mother by summoning Osiris. But he doesn’t only summon Osiris, he also summons the Gods of the Demon Days. In all the commotion the gods were released and everyone was scared.
The theme of this story is to never give up on anyone. Carter was patient and always trusted Sadie. Even though they don’t agree they can always rely on each other when it’s most needed. When Uncle Amos appeared Carter and Sadie trusted him because he was their family.
In this story there were two protagonists, Carter and Sadie. They had go from barely seeing each other and barely speaking with each other to having to trust each other with their lives. Both Carter and Sadie led pretty average lives until their father was killed in the Rosetta Stone blast. They traveled all over with one common goal, to bring their parents back.
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys action and a good story. It’s fast-paced and has great dialogue and the action builds up in way that the climax leaves you wanting more. I would recommend this book to anyone of any age, this was a great book.

  17. Dark Triumph - His Fair Assassin 2
    By Robin LaFevers
The second book to the series of His Fair Assassin; the novel Dark Triumph takes you back into the Medieval Era into the perspective of a young teenage girl named Sybella d’Albert. She is known to be multiple things including: a trained Assassin; a member of the St. Mortain covenant; a handmaiden of Death and the daughter of the most cruel and dark man ever known in history. This story takes you into a time of war, between a 13 year-old duchess and d’Albert himself in a war for dominance. It talks about her journey in finding the love of her life and how she formed alliances as well as enemies throughout her journey. It also talks about about how she realizes her true purpose and how she was able to conquer her own fears and face d’Albert head on. Sybella, after going through much hardships and obstacles finally was able to kill d’Albert with her own hands, after years and years of hatred and vengeance.

The major conflict in this story is that Sybella is troubled by her background and past. She believes that since she is the daughter of d’Albert. She is responsible for some of the misery and torture d’Albert has created. She also questions her purpose in life and if what she does differs from what her father does; if she is no different than her father. Sybella fights herself and believes that she is not worthy of other peoples love and respect and tries everything in her power to hide her identity from the people she is starting to care for; especially the love of her life. Sybella was finally able to overcome herself and fill herself with the love and care and rid d’Albert forever so that he will not be able to hurt any other innocent soul. This conflict portrays the Person vs. Self conflict.

I believe that the theme of this novel shows that you shouldn’t let your past or your background/bloodline identify who and what you are in the present. You shouldn’t let it control you and cause you pain and misery. But you should rather think about the future and let all of the things you love and all things dear to you give you strength and courage. So that you may overpower yourself as well as others who intend to hurt you.

Sybella is the protagonist because the story was told in her point of view and describes her hardships, and struggles in trying to eliminate d’Albert and his troops which would be considered the antagonist (the opposing force). It also explains the obstacles that she had to go through with herself as well as the risks and sacrifices she was forced to make for the people she loves and cares for.

I would recommend this book for everyone who loves adventure. This spectacular novel if filled with war, action, betrayal, stealth, murder and romance., all of the key concepts in a good book. It also contains real history that occurred and has that medieval feel to it. I particularly like the rebelliousness/courage of women that the author was able to creatively portray. I liked how the author gave men and women in the book equal characteristic and doesn’t have one gender dominate the other, even in they both had different methods of strategy and fighting.

  18. Twilight saga: Breaking dawn by: Sierra Wald
    Author: Stephanie Myers
This book is about a girl named Bella Swan and her conflicted love between a vampire named Edward Cullen and a werewolf named Jacob Black. Throughout this book she goes back and forth between the two mystical creatures. There are four books in this saga the fourth book in this saga is breaking dawn. This particular book is about the battle between some of the evil vampires which are the rulers and rule enforcer’s. This battle is to prove the love of Bella and Edward and to fight for their child that was half mortal and half vampire. The bad vampires wanted the child because it was against the vampire law to turn a child. It was unknown to them that the child was born a vampire and that she wasn’t turned.
One of the major conflicts that is bound throughout this book is Bella’s inner conflict about who’s she’s truly in love with Edward or Jacob. The one way this is resolved is Bella realizes her true love is Edward and that her love for Jacob is just brotherly love. Yet Jacob still loved Bella throughout all of the four books.
The theme of this story is true love lasts forever. I believe this is the main theme of this book because Bella frequently talks about love lasting past death and more. Bella and Edward take time to hold hands and look in each others eyes and say forever. The unsaid meaning for there undying and unending love for each other.
The protagonist in this book is Bella because she is the main character throughout this saga of books. She also undergoes injuries, tasks, and more just for her endless love for Edward. She over comes getting married and having a child that is immortal.
I recommend this book to mostly females of any age because of its deep love story that draws in more females than it usually does males.

  19. Shattered
    By: Paul Langan
This story is about a girl name Darcy. Her grandma just died and her mom and dad are having trouble. Also over the summer Darcy almost got raped and she doesn't know how to tell her boyfriend. The turning point in the story is when she
    tell's him what happen.

The major conflict is that she almost got raped in the summer and she's struggling to figure out how to tell her boyfriend. This is causing her to not be able to sleep fully through the night and also makes her nervous to be around him. The type of conflict if person vs self.

The theme of the story is " overcoming struggle's " I think this because at the beginning of the book her family was having problems but at the end of the story they worked them out. Also she faced the boy who almost raped her and she raise above that and didn't let it make her sad anymore.

The protagonist is Darcy. I know this because she is the main character and the book is told by her. At the beginning of the book she was scared and tense now by the end of the book she faced all her fears and became less tense.

I would recommend this book to people that like to read series because this book is one of the Bluford high series. Also this is a good book for people who like to read about struggles and how to get through them.

  20. Among the Hidden By Margret Peterson Haddix
    By Stephon Vilay

Its story takes places at Lukes house where he is a shadow kid. That means you are only allowed to have to kids but luke was born. So that means he stays inside forever and never goes anywhere. Until one day he looked out the window and saw another kid from a window which he know there was already 2 kids. And there plan was to let people have 3 kids but on their trip something happened.

The major conflict is man vs society because… You were not allowed to have three kids and it was a hard life for luke. The only person that understood her was the girl from the window. So thats why jen and 40 others planned a protest in front of the white house and complained. Luke did not want to go. Jen and 40 others went on the protest without Luke and while they were protesting they all got shot.

The theme is stand for what is right. Jen planned out a protest against shadow children. Luke did not want to go because he knew it was wrong that is why her and 40 others died at the protest.

The protagonist is luke because he was really quiet and did not have any friends. He never had birthday. Luke changes when he met jen from the window. He broke out the house without permission to see Jen. They were becoming friends until she went on a protest and hot shot.

I would recommend this book to middle school kids because its a really good book and makes you wonder if you were a shadow kid what would you do. It shows you how a friendship could vanish in a couple of days.

The major conflict is when troy steals a football from Seth holloway to prove wrong. The conflict is person vs. person because its Troy vs. Seth, but it is also person vs. self because Troy knew it was wrong to steal, but he still did and had major regrets. The conflict is resolved when Troys mom finds the ball in his football bag and asks him where he got it he tells her the truth. Troys mom grounds Troy and makes him apologize and bring the ball back to Seth.

I think the theme of the story is just because your young doesn't mean you can't make big things happen. This happens in the story when Seth calls Troy( whose only 12 years old) "a genius" a football genius. "All the tendencies and formations that we study and plug into computers, his brain just calculates it all. Instantly".

Troy white is the protagonist because he is the main character of the book. He had to undergo the change of maturity because he had to learn that he can't get away with everything just because he s a kid.
Yes, because it is a fun book to read, you always want to find out what happens next. Also, it has action to make it more interesting to read.

  22. A dog’s purpose.
    BY: W. bruce cameron

A dog’s purpose is about a dog who tries to find his purpose through the course of 4 different lives. In his first life he is a stray who gets rescued by a man and a women who take him to a yard where tons of stray dogs are brought. eventually he gets sick and has to get out down and in his last moments he tries to figure out his purpose.
He gets reborn again this time being a beloved family dog.He has it all a cabin a family who loves him and the best boy in the world (son of the family). they grow up together playing and doing everything together they are so bonded and when he dies he thinks he’s finally found his purpose but to his surprise he’s born yet again.
This time a police dog!he fights crime and saves lives but still all he can think about is his boy. when it come time for him to pass in his last moments all he can think about is his boy. reborn yet again he gets adopted by an abusive family. they treat him in horrible conditions. one day the father decides he doesn't want the dog anymore so he takes him to the woods to shoot him, but right before he does he takes pity on the dog and decides to just leave him there. as soon as he leaves the dog smells something oddly familiar... the cabin! he spends days trying to find it and when he finally does his boy is there to! but his boy is much different. hes gotten weak, old, and very sick. in the end the dog and the boy die together and he finds out exactly what his purpose was all along.

the major conflict in this story is that the dog needed to find his purpose and why he was on this world. the conflict was internal.in the story he resolves this conflict by the course of 4 lives. in each he learns a little more and gets closer to his final purpose.

The theme of this story is to always look for ways to self improve because we can all be better people.i picked this theme because in the tory every life he would try to do good thinking it would reveal his purpose. even when things got hard he knew he had to stay strong and fight through anything in his way. he never lost sight of his boy and eventually he got lead back to him.

the protagonist (main character) of the story is the dog. changes that he undergo were living 4 lives and being able to remember everything about them. he lived 4 completely lives each time with very different owners.

i would recommend this book to elementary and older. mainly to anyone who likes dogs. also to anyone who likes to read a story where it can be sad and make them tear up. a dog’s purpose is a very loving story.

  23. Title: It's Kind Of A Funny Story
    Author: Ned Vizzini

This book is about a young teenager named Craig. He is a junior in highschool. He lives with his family in a normal upper class house in Manhattan. Craig is a smart boy who just got into a new well educated school called Manhattans Executive Pre Professional high school. He realizes that he can't handle it, his school, his friends, just in general his life. One night craig thinks ending his life would be the only solution to all his problems, thats when he calls 1-800-SUICIDE and checks himself into a mental hospital. That is where he meets a lot of other patients and has more time to think.

The conflict of the story is the problem he is facing with depression. Craig is very suicidal and is in a very dark place for a fifteen year old. This conflict is called person vs self. Craig doesn't think there is any other way to fix his problems except to just end them all, but after his attempt he gets a lot of help in the mental hospital where he meets new people and figures his life out. The conflict is resolved when craig switches schools and focuses on his art that he's learned to love doing.

The theme in this book is to always stay true to who you are. Just to always be yourself and not to fall under peer pressure and to not do things just because other people are doing them. You should always be your own person and to never let anyone change you.
The protagonist is Craig. He is the main focus of the story. He is the one who is battling depression. Hes the main character. You learn a lot about him in this book, you learn about his lifestyle, his family, his friends, and himself.

Yes, I would recommend this book to other teenagers because its a book about depression in a humorous, witty way. Its a great book to read if you like to read about sadness and how people deal with their problems and how they figure they're life out. This book also teaches you a few life lessons and points of living.

They get it back because Griffin get together a special elite team with different skills. They trick the antagonist Swindale by tricking him back into giving the card back for free and Ben doesn't have to move. That was the conflict, type of conflict and how it was resolved.
